Children must be taught their limits. If allowed/encouraged to run wild, society will pay a heavy price.

Which limits do you teach? Don’t play on the monkey bars since you could break your arm, or it’s okay to break your arm but wear the helmet so you don’t break your skull?
Although nowadays “Don’t call them that, “monkey” is a racist term!” is also taught…

“Which limits do you teach?”
Whichever ones the parents/teachers of oprahkanyeobama didn’t of course. Toss in the celebrity worshipping culture of sick/shallow/stupid sheeple and and it’s why we’re where we are…Chris’ point in case you missed it.

Strange, my reading was the contrasting of irresponsible adults acting like children to responsible children acting like adults, with Sam enjoying her kids being the latter (as good parents should). Now why can’t those adults be as nice as her children?

Back to my first take…because they didn’t have Sam to teach them. And now their self-worship is reinforced by the sick “culture” I mentioned, and society -and civilization itself- is paying the price.
And we are in the process of breeding an entire generation of entitled soul-less proles, no parental units required, because “it takes a village” don’tcha know? Imagine when the architect of that little gem takes over the big chair…

They are monkey bars…. if someone has a problem with that it’s their problem not anyone elses… We called them monkey bars when I was a kid and if some kid had even tried to say that was racist. he/she would have been laughed right off the playground and rightly so.

Funny enough, way back in 1956, me and older brother went to the park’s playground half mile from our house (me 6 – he 7 years old) as we normally did. And I broke my elbow while trying to go across the monkey bars. And have gone at life the same way every since. Volunteered at 17 for Army, volunteered and went to VietNam at 19. Of my 40 years engineering, spent roughly half outside USA, and now in Nigeria helping them with new refinery. Yes, my parents were very good at their job.

It’s nice to see the girls growing up. Hopefully to more maturity than the public role models held up for adulation by the sheeple masses.

I read some where a man who said; “Give me the child ’til his seventh year and I’ll give you the man”
Start them right, treat them right and they will not disappoint you.

I think the Jesuits said that. I read it in a Frederick Forsyth novel (Icon).

“Give me a child until he is seven, and I will give you the man.”
Attributed to Saint Francis Xavier, an original founder of the Jesuits (Society of Jesus), prominent missionary. Although it’s tough to find anything direct beyond it’s a “Jesuit motto”.
Actually one interpretation, consistent with his times (1506-1552), deals with the high childhood mortality rate. Make it to seven and it was more likely you’d make it to adulthood.
Although it’s normally thought to mean getting in the indoctrination (religious or otherwise) early while the wee brains are still mushy before they set up.
“Start them right, treat them right and they will not disappoint you.”
You’re saying that with a straight face? Do you expect parents to have expectations that low? “Of course our little Johnie isn’t a disappointment. Not one of those of bodies didn’t get what they deserved.”

I have to laugh, all the other parents we were around thought I was heading for a date with DCFS, “you can’t do that” they said. I told ’em let the state raise my kids then, they can pay for them as well………
Fast forward decade, now those same people cannot comprehend how we managed to have 2 of the most polite, helpful, respectful young adults they have ever seen. Matter of fact, I do think our kids are the only ones I have heard address others as “Yes Sir and Yes M’aam”
I just tell them to remember when they told me I couldn’t peel their tails as needed and how DCFS was going to put my mind right.
And it won’t matter how old they get, for just as I was raised, they will act with respect or they will have a problem with me.

With Zed, Sam and now Grandfather Wade, I have no doubt on their daughters. I wonder if Zed will use Marcus Latralls how to on dating his daughters.

Thanks for helping out on my comment. Serves me right not looking up Marcus’s last name to confirm spelling. That is one MAN I do not want to get on the bad side of, he he.
Within the past two days I’ve seen a couple of articles regarding colleges coddling of students and leaving them unprepared for reality after graduation. Our leftist elite show the same mindset. They cannot understand how reality does not shift to what they want it to be.

Give me the combat tested, 2X combat wounded, 1st Lt in Sayeret Matkal and who published his grades from MIT and I’ll give you the landslide elected PM (4th time) of Israel.
Give me the multi kulti community organizer with personal maturity problems, who pals around with Bill Ayers, and I’ll give you,……Oh crap.
We lose.
Ah good, the Lefties are agreeing to use deodorant wherever needed.
Progress.
