Well if you look at the cratering viewership of CNN and MSNBC, the decline in newspaper circulation, AND the complete collapse of Newsweek and Time,
I think we’ve passed from satire to farce.
Seems like the only consumers of the Lame Stream Media are other members of the Lame Stream Media. And, of course the brainless proglodytes of the left. And even they aren’t enough to save rags like Newsweek and the LA Times.
It almost makes you wistful for the days of Ernie Pyle.
Back when America had newspapermen and patriots instead of whiny lefty America hating “journalists”.

In the cycle of the forest, deadwood serves to provide cover for some ground-dwelling creatures, as a food source for a multitude of birds and insects as well as returning vital nutrients to the soil once organically decomposed.
In other words, you’re insulting deadwood by comparing it to Trudeau.

I never thought Doonesbury was funny or clever. I was always a boomer who was embarrassed by the loud mouthed minority of my generation, mostly Ivy Leagers who thought that they spoke for the rest of us. And Trudeau was one of the worst of the lost.
Though I was an Ivy Leaguer myself (Cornell and Columbia) in the 1960s, I always felt the hippie protesters were just a pain-in-the-ass.

Watch the PC crowd screaming bloody murder over perceived, nonexistent slights and slaps, starting this past winter and going on until Autumn of 2016. It’s going to get figuratively bloody, a very rough ride ahead. The PC crowd doesn’t like the truth. They have a disease called ‘denial of reality’.
Trudeau is/always was a boring little twit who thought he was clever when he wasn’t. He’ll keep trying to do a lot of damage, but will fail.
People can wake out of their comas, you know. It takes time to come out of the cave. I think they are starting to do so. Be patient.

Or, if you prefer, he recites Plato:
“The best ordered state will be one in which the largest number of persons … most nearly resembles a single person. The first and highest form of the State … is a condition in which the private and the individual is altogether banished from life, and things which are by nature private, such as eyes and ears and hands, have become common, and in some way see and hear and act in common, and all men express praise and blame and feel joy and sorrow on the same occasion, and whatever laws there are unite the city to the utmost …” (Plato’s _Republic_ & _Laws_ c. 370 BCE)

“And resistance is futile.” I didn’t remember Plato being that f’kd up.
I don’t know how we got so lucky as to have Founding Fathers who understood the value of the individual, and the courage to fight for it, but America was once the sole place in the world where people could come to realize their potential. Now they come here to destroy us, and then feed off of the rotting corpse. Most folks have no idea what we have lost and may never regain.
Yes, “never” is a long time, but tell me when Europe or the rest of the world ever had it, or is ever likely to have it? Greece, the locus for “democracy”, revered the collective, not the individual. Jefferson and the rest knew that, and thereby formed a Republic – which we have failed to keep. We were unable to Locke it down.

Aristotle, the voice of reason, dominated the Age of Enlightenment (Plato, the Dark Ages); the rest logically followed:

PS. Resistance *is* futile _if_ it’s reactionary. Instead, it must be revolutionary–and fundamental:
“We are what we repeatedly do. We become just by doing just acts, temperate by doing temperate acts, brave by doing brave acts. Moral excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” – Aristotle
“My philosophy, in essence, is the concept of man as a heroic being, with his own happiness as the moral purpose of his life, with productive achievement as his noblest activity, and reason as his only absolute.” – Ayn Rand
“What is morality?…..Judgment to distinguish right and wrong, vision to see the truth, courage to act upon it, dedication to that which is good, integrity to stand by the good at any price.” – Ayn Rand
“There is a morality of reason, a morality proper to man, and Man’s Life is its standard of value.” – Ayn Rand
“To live, man must hold three things as the supreme and ruling values of his life: Reason—Purpose—Self-esteem. Reason, as his only tool of knowledge—Purpose, as his choice of the happiness which that tool must proceed to achieve—Self-esteem, as his inviolate certainty that his mind is competent to think and his person is worthy of happiness, which means: is worthy of living…
“…Self-esteem is reliance on one’s power to think. It cannot be replaced by one’s power to deceive. The self-confidence of a scientist and the self-confidence of a con man are not interchangeable states, and do not come from the same psychological universe. The success of a man who deals with reality augments his self-confidence. The success of a con man augments his panic.” -Ayn Rand

PPS. The error “we” made was devising a selfish politics–an individual’s selfish right to his life, to his liberty and to his pursuit of happiness–then trying to build it on an ethical code that demands of men they sacrifice their life, liberty, happiness–and minds–in the name of virtue.
One last quote, if you’ll pardon me:
“It stands to reason that where there’s sacrifice, there’s someone collecting sacrificial offerings. Where there is service, there is someone being served. The man who speaks to you of sacrifice speaks of slaves and masters. And intends to be master.” – Ayn Rand

There’s a good reason why the faux “news” has gone from being the MSM (Main Stream Media) to the LSDM (Lame Stream Dinosaur Media). (Three broadcast TV channels, half-a-dozen major newspapers, many minor local radio stations).
And GT is both symptom AND cause. Circular loop self perpetuating?
I just wish that the NYT would hurry up and die. It’s already shown its irrelevance and falsity in today’s world. But I guess that when you’re THE major source of news in the US, it takes time for the headwaters to dry up. Even when those same headwaters are the source of pollution in the rest of the LSDM “news”.
