Why not? It often helps to see the view from another perspective. I read the Russian news sites. It helps to keep in mind that they are just as biased as USA news sites, often in the same direction.

I’m a young one in comparison to some, but I’m old enough to have seen Russia go from Pravda, to something resembling a free press, to RT. In some ways it’s even worse than those days. They used to be lying to push an ideology, now it’s just cynical politics of paranoia and personal destruction for other countries.
But in my defense, the previous post was supposed to be read sarcastically (hence the ’80s PSA reference).

Thanks for asking. Hands…getting better. Had a bad case of bronchitis and was on antibiotics for almost a month, which meant no Enbrel or methotrexate. I was pretty much a pretzel for a while there, but I’m finally able to take my injections again and things are looking up.
I was a “Cold War baby” and grew up in Omaha, which of course was ground zero for any attack, since SAC had their HQ there. We did the “hide under the desk” and the “huddle in the maintenance tunnel” drills, which doubled nicely as tornado safety training. I still remember the huge barrels of WWII surplus supplies in that tunnel, and how they seemed oozy and disgusting enough to make me loathe the Soviets just for putting us at risk of having to eat or drink anything that came from one of those barrels.
You know, the cynical exploitation of the ideology was part of the Party leadership’s technique as far back as Stalin. All the “Old Bolsheviks” and true believers were purged early on and replaced by “careerists.” Communism was a legitimizing ideology, and used to keep the masses from challenging the leadership. That was one of the things that got Khrushchev into so much trouble: he promised the Soviet people that they would see the attainment of Communism and the end of the “dictatorship of the proletariat” within their lifetimes. Not something that most westerners understood, and in its way far more damaging to the party’s monopoly on power than his failures in the Cuban Missile Crisis.
In a weird way, I kind of miss those “bad old days” when the USSR was a black box and understanding it was as much an art as a science.

That’s good to hear.
It’s interesting to hear that the Cuban Missile Crisis harmed Khrushchev. The common narrative today is that it was a defeat for Kennedy since the Russians got what they wanted in missiles removed from Turkey on their southern border. In college I had a Georgian former-Soviet-army member (I think he was a corporal in air defense radio observation) tell me that the Cuban Missile Crisis was a Great Victory for the USSR. What impact did it have on Khrushchev at the time?
The “black box” effect is kind of why I’m watching China. Even though there’s more information coming out of the PRC, most of it’s shaped by the party or even self-censored by citizens complaining on the internet so as not to cause a loss of Face for the country. That’s why I linked those three videos a couple days ago, if you looked at them; thought you might like them.
It seems to me that lies are irrelevant to idiocracy.
How else to explain the essentially equal appeal of the bitch and the bern?
March 13, 2016 at 11:47 pm

Yet they are not equal in appeal. Supporters are drawn to Clinton because of the promise of cash and future-favors from an openly corrupt syndicate, secured by the “stability” of her apparent immunity to prosecution (present and past). Supporters are drawn to Sanders by assurances that he is a “true believer” as they are – with the frustrations of the Obama years (yes, really) set to be swept away by final realization of the Everlasting Socialist Utopia(TM).
I’ve already heard a number of Bernie supporters insist they will not support Hillary in a general election. Period. Indeed, while we see Bernie’s Soros-funded actions over the weekend as a misstep that will push more people to vote for Trump in his defense, the other side sees it as proof that Bernie can “strike Real(TM) blows against the totalitarian fascists”. He may have pushed himself over the top in competitive matches for Tuesday.
(It’s still a net loss for Sanders, with his (and ironically our) best outcome being that the Democrat primary trundles along into June with the Republican one ending in two days.)

You forgot the most foreboding detail; that Hillary is willing, in fact eager, to kill people her supporters don’t like.
Which category does not include Islamist terrorists, but does include a lot of the terrs’ favorite victims, by all indications.
Equal in number, not philosophy. But does it matter if the former gleefully lies, cheats, steals, and kills with impunity while the latter adheres to the G. Costanza school; “it’s not a lie if YOU believe it”?
Both camps fall squarely into the idiocracy, and for the same primary motivation; free shit.
Even if mulched, she would NOT be what plants crave.

Love “idiocracy.” Can I borrow it? It’s a bit more accurate than “kakistocracy,” which is “government by the worst, most unprincipled individuals.” (Thank you, William Safire, crown prince of word-smithery.)
I would have to disagree with you PC. “Idiocracy” would indicate rule BY idiots, not OF idiots. “Kakistocracy” is Government by the least qualified or most unprincipled citizens. I would submit that Hildabeast qualifies as one of the (if not THE) least qualified and least principled people ever to run for the offoce of POTUS.

An easy lie suits the left better than a complicated truth.
Eh, okay, any politician.
That’ll certainly be catastrophic for us if/when it is potus.
But the thing is, as I alluded upthread, her lies are irrelevant to her sheep, just as Bernie’s “truth” is irrelevant to his, as long as they keep the free shit coming.

Idiocracy is exactly the right term.
Most of her supporters wouldn’t believe any website that pointed out her lies.
“Useful idiots” indeed. I wonder if they ever learned what happened to the useful idiots after the 1917 revolution? Most likely not.
