CFLs when one takes into account the enemrgy required to manufacture them, plus the hazardous chemicals used in them and to manufacture them, have a worse net environmental impact than incandescents. Sort of like when the greenie weenies forced McD’s to switch from styrofoam to paper. Papaer has a much worse environmental footprint than styrofoam. Plus the styrofoam is recyclable whereas the paper, having been contaminated with food oils etc. is pretty much useless except to burn.

Same thing was true when O pushed through the clunker law – Most of an automobile’s environmental impact comes while getting it to the showroom. Keeping the older cars on the road would have been much cleaner, and wouldn’t have driven the price of used vehicles up for the working poor. And the hybrids’ batteries are an environmental disaster!
Some of the dumbest folks I’ve ever met were “rich, learned, liberals”.
At least this one knew an honest man when she met him; remember how in early times he showed her the truth when she tried to shame him into accepting his designated blackness as poor, downtrodden victim railing at “the man”?
That is the very definition of racism as practiced by progs in general and the ones running the show right now in particular are the worst racists to ever hold power. Who knows how many good honest men are yearning to breathe free but lack the strength of conviction of Damon to resist the progressive and peer pressure to “represent” their culture as defined by victimhood, hate, and nanny statism?
Holy shit, BW…I was going to quote a couple of the most outrageous parts of that and then realized I’d have to just quote it all verbatim…the one glaring component is that it is all at our expense.
Ironically, I was going to include the Asian parallel in my comment about the pressure for blacks to represent their culture, as I defined above. I remember TV images from the 60’s and early 70’s of young Vietnamese huddling in mud huts, groveling for scraps to survive, barely above animals in their circumstances, who when offered opportunity in a real capitalist competitive world turned into mathematical geniuses; the seed of prodigy was there, just waiting for an environment in which to cultivate and grow. And yet black kids (and with an academic system infested with the likes of your linked example, all American kids) who are born into the same environment of opportunity, are bred and taught and ridiculed and shamed into quashing any spark of individualism, critical thought, and ambition by the likes of that person who would train all educators to think and “teach” like her. And all of course on your dime, not only during the growing process but for the rest of their lives as they embrace and subsist on the scraps of the dole that they are taught to believe is what they are owed and to which their lives are limited.
But why? What possible motivation can there be to maintain the ignorance and unproductive subsistence for millions of people? A sick reverse racism of course, but to what end? Votes? Just a method of maintaining their elite status and money/control? Over what? Do they not know or care that perpetuation will mean annihilation?
I feel sick, and so pessimistic at the outlook for our children and our nation. Sob.

Why on earth would they be driving a Gov’t Motors Cadillac? Why aren’t they in a Ford? Or a Southern-built Toyota or Honda?
Those Cadillac SuVs are damned expensive machines. Many moons ago (like 06 timeframe) I worked security guarding the overflow lot for a big Caddie dealer. Sticker on some of those beasts was more’n my HOUSE. To me there is something seriously oxymoronic about a Cadillac or Mercedes SUV. Just the term “Luxury SUV” is a contradiction in terms.

Just like a luxury 4 x 4 with “bling wheels”. Fancy-shmancy knockoffs of low-profile tire setups intended for closed track and road-racing, where high-speed cornering can exert so much transverse G on the tires that conventional-profile sidewalls flex to the point of parting company with the rim, the tread, or both. Low-profiles largely eliminate the problem by eliminating most of the sidewall’s height.
Luxo-barges aren’t fast enough to need them, and they wouldn’t last six seconds offroad.
One more example of how modern elites’ ideas of what constitutes “distinction” mainly reveals their incredible ignorance of reality in general.

Um, the pinnacle of closed course racing is supposed to be F1. They are mandated to use 13″ rims and don’t have low profile tires but can still drive across the ceiling at speed. No, low profile is for dynamic response, flat “tread” foot print and heat mitigation not bead sealing.
Gangsta’s with Conestogas are idiots. One pothole and kablooey. But if ya buy’em we’ll sell’em.
The Agora was not only an open marketplace, but it was the assembly area where the Greek version of our politicians met to openly discuss and argue. Diogenes spent a lot of time there. However, in the philosophical sense of “in vino veritas” amphora also works because diogenes was also looking for truth. In his day, inside a vino amphora would be where he would find it.

The reason Damon is a part of the DD family is he is his own self, screw labels and cliches. Chris Muir rocks!

Agora the marketplace or Amphora for storage.
Some might confuse Aspasia for Hypatia though they are centuries apart.
