They should have figured out by now that the President is used to “empire building” and “constituencies” inside failing corporations he’s taken over. And that he knows that those groups and their self-interests are the usual reason those corporations were failing.
They should also have learned by now that his usual method of dealing with such dogs in mangers is “You’re Fired”.
In this case, he might not be able to “fire” lobbyists, banks, and etc., but he can cut off their access to the Federal tit. It will probably be made easier by the fact that at least half of what they do is illegal to begin with.

” if you reduce the gov’t to only those dutiesfunctions explicitly placedauthorized in the Constitution, there’s very little … room for lobbyists.”
Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution explicitly defines the powers of the Federal Government. Section 9 explicitly defines powers which are prohibited to the government. The Constitution is not a disabling document (i.e. that which is not prohibited is implicitly authorized) but an enabling document (that which is not authorized is by definition prohibited). To drive home the latter principle the 9th and 10th Amendments explicitly state that any powers not granted the federal government are explicitly reserved to the states or the people. Unfortunately, there is no language, no matter how simple, which a lawyer cannot open to MISinterpretation.
April 21, 2017 at 2:55 pm
RegT
Even if it was impossible to (intentionally, I believe) misinterpret, the document would still be ignored, overruled, by those who crave power over others. The Constitution should have authorized members of Congress to only serve a _single_ two-year term. It should also have only authorized a session of Congress every other year, as it is here in Montana.
I believe the Founders envisioned citizen-legislators, who had real jobs/businesses that they would return to after each (brief) session of Congress. Allowing longer terms without limits is a large part of why our government is so corrupt.

The problem is that progressives see the current situation as “doing harm”. I mean there might be someone without a cell phone to call their medical insurance company to praise them for lowering their rates! So, doing things is by their very definition “doing no harm”.
Then, of course, there’s the problem that none of them can attribute negative consequences to their actions. Ipso facto, they aren’t doing any harm.

I disagree completely. I do not believe the “masses” will “realize” ANYTHING they are not carefully and explicitly fed. If they were capable of perceiving anything on their own they would not BE part of the masses. I do not believe that the masses truly qualify for the “sapiens” portion of our species’ name because the masses seldom if ever think. They are naturally herd creatures more akin to sheep or cattle. Two reasons why I believe many citizens are as clueless as they obviously are – taught a passel of lies and denied the truth in school, by teachers who are almost all socialists by education, training, and indoctrination (but I’m being redundant). Add to that the difficulty of getting misinformed, lied to again, or denied the truth again (info they refuse to publish or report) by the media.
Also, they are distracted by “bread and circuses” from what is valuable, decent, and necessary knowledge. The wasteland known as “TV”, professional (and collegiate) sports, and the separation of races and creeds (islam is _not_ a creed, it is a cult) by those who wish to keep us all dis-united and barking at each other instead of the real problem – our government, especially the Deep State.
