No deal. We need a simple Kill Bill. Reset to ’09.
Decide separately if we want gov in the insurance/health care biz. Ask if we want socialized medicine. Or socialized anything. Simple answer, no.
Repeal/replace bullshit obscures the pure socialist nature of this beast.
This is not one of the three main initiatives that got DT elected. It is an unnecessary distraction from them. It is a leftist cause and it is SOCIALISM!
I don’t understand the end game on this one, Donald.
Introduce a Kill Bill.

So, do we kill the largest social program of all, one that says exactly what it is in the title?….Social Security?…lots of folks living on that these days, especially after the obama and the dem congress induced crash killed everybody’s savings and investments….
Yes, SS is the biggest money-sucking entitlement there is. Yes, it needs to go, but by attrition over time, by opt-out.
But it’s not socialism, it is or was, insurance. The retirement fund, not the add-ons, are based on what you pay in and what you pay in determines what you take out.
Absolutely the average payout over time exceeds what was paid in even counting interest, so it is unsustainable as many late boomers and their progeny will soon find out. But like all other entitlements, it should die.
Still not anywhere near comparable to this ridiculous Robin Hood of health insurance. And this is a very recent and already foundering program that can easily be killed if there was some backbone involved.
DT should have just said to the legislature, give me a Kill Bill! And then get on with the real business and issues of his gov. Yes, eventually including SS reform along with (please God let it finally come to be) real deal tax reform.

“Absolutely the average payout over time exceeds what was paid in even counting interest, so it is unsustainable”
It’s unsustainable from day zero, since for many years now what you pay is immediately p***d into a hole pretty much on the day you pay it. You can’t phase out a Ponzi scheme.

Social Security may not by law pay out more than it collects. Congress had looted it for decades. Come 2020, the excess collections will cease. The IOUs issued must be cashed in. About 2034, those run out and payments will be reduced by about 24 percent.
May 5, 2017 at 9:59 am
John D. Egbert
Yes. By phasing it out as follows:
(1) No new accounts created.
(2) All account holders more than 20 years from benefit eligibility have their accounts closed, the balance refunded with 5% simple interest, and be removed from the FICA tax rolls (an instant 13% pay raise).
(3) All account holders 20 years or less from eligibility are issued a statement of account and offered the choice of staying with the program – in which case nothing changes – or cashing out – in which case item (2) becomes operative.
(4) Account holders currently receiving benefits continue with no change; any recipients desiring to opt out may do so – in which case item (2) applies.
Additional funding will probably be needed to cover benefit payouts for a number of years, until attrition takes care of the shortfall. This funding could be provided by replacing the FICA “contributions” stolen by the Congress and put into the General Fund — preferably by first requiring the elected cockroaches to pony up in restitution, then appropriating as needed to take up the slack.
JDE, I’m afraid that plan, like the flat tax, is way too simple and makes way too much sense. He ain’t no Reagan, but DT is the closest thing we’ve had since. If he can quit chasing squirrels, who knows? But O-Care/T-Care can and should die right now. Kill Bill!

So maybe there is a bit of a silver lining by. If true, this would explain why the left is screaming.
-Abolishes the Obamacare Individual Mandate Tax which hits 8 million Americans each year.
-Abolishes the Obamacare Employer Mandate Tax. Together with repeal of the Individual Mandate Tax repeal this is a $270 billion tax cut.
-Abolishes Obamacare’s Medicine Cabinet Tax which hits 20 million Americans with Health Savings Accounts and 30 million Americans with Flexible Spending Accounts. This is a $6 billion tax cut.
-Abolishes Obamacare’s Flexible Spending Account tax on 30 million Americans. This is a $20 billion tax cut.
-Abolishes Obamacare’s Chronic Care Tax on 10 million Americans with high out of pocket medical expenses. This is a $126 billion tax cut.
-Abolishes Obamacare’s HSA withdrawal tax. This is a $100 million tax cut.
-Abolishes Obamacare’s 10% excise tax on small businesses with indoor tanning services. This is a $600 million tax cut.
-Abolishes the Obamacare health insurance tax. This is a $145 billion tax cut.
-Abolishes the Obamacare 3.8% surtax on investment income. This is a $172 billion tax cut.
-Abolishes the Obamacare medical device tax. This is a $20 billion tax cut.
-Abolishes the Obamacare tax on prescription medicine. This is a $28 billion tax cut.
-Abolishes the Obamacare tax on retiree prescription drug coverage. This is a $2 billion tax cut
Great. If this passes, it will be just as bad as Obamacare, but Obama will be free of the curse. It will become Trumpcare, and every problem that the libs have ignored so far will suddenly become HUGE!
Just repeal the damned thing, get rid of costly, unneeded regulations, and let us choose insurance which fits our needs.

We aren’t getting all we want. So far. What is it we need.
An RNC fund raising person called me. Nice talk. They are having difficulties on getting any donations as of today for the recent past. I did have a more exhaustive talk with him than a person usually would. I hit and asked a wide range of topics. I could sense his frustration as nobody earlier had donated anything from his calls. He even discussed the need for midterm election money, and the Georgia race which is tied in the polls i have seen, which is almost here. He was trying to understand what was happening. I could only tell him some of it. The voters want what they expected. I even discussed the immigration / invasion, and some actions he could take immediately that he promised, but has not done, even without the wall.
i suppose that we just want more. Many are happy that we have gotten what we have gotten. We still want the deal. And where the deal is being stymied, we want repercussions to the opposition. Like enforce the law as the interior wall that is always needed. The wall would not have been needed if the internal laws were enforced. I was proud of the unguarded border for a long time, until enemy attacking and within made the unguarded border a weakness and a liability.
Go ahead. Type President Trump again.
We are part of the deal.

Agreed, and with the over expansion of disability claims along with outright fraud, it ain’t getting any better. We’ve retired in our 50’s and will try to recover some of our SSInvestment (LOL) at 62 (3-8yrs away). But paying ourselves 3X+ what was being stolen worked out. Just got to learn to get by on less, as petercat might say.
Sarge, it would be awesome if somebody a lot more industrious than me would come up with the answer to this little problem:
If a person began working in 1965 and paid in the maximum to SS until retiring after 50 years in 2017, with average passbook rate interest compounded as the contribution accrued, what would the total dollar figure be? Then, on the premise that employer contributions are in lieu of additional salary, what would the figure be using the same criteria but with the employer contributions figured in?
Then, and there’re tables that have this info pretty easily but I’m still too lazy to dig it up, if a man croaks at 80 after receiving full benefits for 14 years starting in 2017, what would be his total received?
I don’t really know the answers, but my gut tells me I did the right thing by beginning to take benefits when I turned 62 in August ’16…I worked full time from age 17 in 1971 until then and there were times early on when I probably didn’t pay in the maximum in SS but later the income was strong enough that with the averaging that SS does we ended up with about 2400 mo. including my wife’s spouse benefits (she didn’t pay in herself). And since I have no confidence at all that I will last until 80 and even less confidence that the SS system will remain intact until then, I figured the best thing to do was take early SS and get back as much as possible as soon as possible. But I’ve made business decisions by the seat of my pants for 45 years and it worked out okay, so that’s what I did.
Who knows if that’s the right thing or not? If you believe gov (hah!) they say the old age fund has been kept separate from the welfare add-on provisions (don’t get me going on SSI “disability” after watching what goes on with perfectly able-bodied young people from the perspective of being behind a pawnshop counter), but who the fuck knows?
Anyway, anybody feel like working up or looking up those figures?

I wish someone would let Mr Trump know that unilaterally changing a deal after it is negotiated could be considered breach of contract. The same wave which swept him INTO his current job could almost as easily CAN his ass come next leap year. Unless the left Dhimmicrats nominate someone as bad as – or worse than – Hildemort or The Bern, those people might consider voting against him as a way of firing him. This is especially true considering how many “anybody but Trump” voters ultimately held their noses and voted against Hilzabeast.

Zed, on the other hand, seriously needs a damn haircut…he’s starting to go a little native there….I thought he looked much more..um…mature, yet studly with short hair…maybe Sam should give him a haircut…nekkid…with a theme of how all us taxpayers are getting shorn by these knuckleheads in Washington.
I wish someone would let Mr Trump know that unilaterally changing a deal after it is negotiated could be considered breach of contract. The same wave which swept him INTO his current job could almost as easily CAN his ass come next leap year. Unless the
leftDhimmicrats nominate someone as bad as – or worse than – Hildemort or The Bern, those people might consider voting against him as a way of firing him. This is especially true considering how many “anybody but Trump” voters ultimately held their noses and voted against Hilzabeast. Now how do we get the message to him?
Kind of off the subject – just received some old pictures from a friend, the first of which shows Theodore Roosevelt and John Muir in Yosemite. It states that they are the two men most responsible for the National Parks in California. Any relation? How would I send you a copy of the picture? (if you would like it!)
JTC …. Yes it is a crap shoot on when to start drawing your SS. I looked up the tables and did the math… Yes it is a Ponzi Scheme. But they added beneficiaries and other things to it… And a big IOU to the american people . They have taken a huge amount of money from the Social Security Fund and used it for other purposes….
