As we debate couples therapy, crazy relatives, and life in general, we should remember those who gave us the right to do so and enjoy awesome DBD artwork.
“But in a larger sense, we can not dedicate we can not consecrate we can not hallow this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember, what we say here, but can never forget what they did here.
It is for us, the living, rather to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they have, thus far, so nobly carried on. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain; that this nation shall have a new birth of freedom; and that this government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”
I’m going to tilt a glass and say a prayer for fallen shipmates and classmates today.
Y’all have a safe and blessed Memorial Day.

Thanks to Chris for providing us this forum to speak our minds, or in my case, try to not need a cranial rectal extraction as I attempt to keep up. I personally appreciate all the interesting comments here, even if I don’t understand or agree with them.

Beautiful. Skye has many miles to go before that sentiment can be about her.
An odd little secret about me is that I love NPR. Notwithstanding the stomach-turning libturd twists and turns, the presentation and backstory of much of what they do is mesmerizing, and often their play-out music snips are fresh, different, and excellent, sometimes even the hip-hop.
PHC even more so; I was not a fan of Keillor, but some of the musical acts, esp. the bluegrass, was so cool I would forward them to my daughter. She’s a teacher but a musician and music lover at heart as is her hubbyand her best friend. She loves much of it enough to share and download what I send plus other work from the artist.
Often there’s good among the bad. Finding it is hard but worth it. Good thing for Skye.

Today is the day when we remember our brothers and sisters that have given their all in the defense of our way of life and our country. Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airmen and Coast Guardsmen have given their lives in peace and in war, by accident and by enemy action, on our homeland and on foreign soil. From the first Continental Soldier to the last Serviceman in our final war; from those brought home by six of their comrades, to those resting in American soil in foreign lands, to those lost to us forever but remembered by their friends, family and GOD. It is to them that we take time for daily life today to remember and profoundly thank for their sacrifices.
In my cupboard is a bottle of Chivas Royal Salute used only for certain days. Today I raised a glass in honor of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our great country. To my brothers and sisters in arms that gave their all: my family and I salute you. To my uncle; Seaman Robert S. Cooper Jr, US Navy Reserve; killed in action, November 8, 1942, Operation Torch: we salute you.
To those who served and made it home, our day comes November 11th at 11:00am. On that day I will raise a glass to all of those who proudly wear the title of Veteran.

To those who have acquaintances who don’t get yesterday, have them read General Kelly’s speech “Six Seconds” and if that doesn’t sink in recite to them Lincoln’s words to soldiers mother.
Dear Madam,–
I have been shown in the files of the War Department a statement of the Adjutant General of Massachusetts that you are the mother of five sons who have died gloriously on the field of battle.
I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save.
I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.
Sorry bro, I figure you want the truth. I hate it. Bad.

Well, I actually like it…kinda. So, Chris, not that you need feedback from the peanut gallery, but, since I kinda do this for a living, here’s my $.02. Feel free to let me know to STHU and just enjoy the awesome artwork. 🙂
* The random button (one of my favorite) only takes you to one cartoon, then it goes away. The next and last buttons seem a bit wonky too. These buttons worked way better on the old site. Not sure why that functionality didn’t transfer.
*The calendar is VERY much nicer and I love the fact that you can still get a month’s worth of toons at a time. Very good to catch up on what you missed.
* The tags are also much easier…I hated the rolling cloud thing…made it hard on the iPad to select the tag I wanted (mostly the sex one) 🙂
Overall, cleaner, lighter and better laid out. Will be interesting to see how you add the fundraiser and any other new (hint, hint) content to the site.

Okay, work in progress…buttons and widgets coming back. Unless I’m too stupid to figure it out (a distinct possibility) archives right now only brings up the current year with no way to jump back; you can get there with the chapter and calendar functions but a yearly back function is needed.

Of course that’s as close as I wanted to get, because y’know, skank.
JT~
Darlin’, You keep staring like that at her, your eyes are going to become fixed points in time and space.
Yikes, better avert…there’s lots more to look at around here:
Sam, Jan, Jewess Commando, Pamatar… 😉
JTC, how does that country song go, “Boys, you can look, but you can’t touch.”
And yes, both Sam and Skye have some awesome badonkadonk
“All I know is Skye is going to look real good in a DDQ bar waitress uniform”
She’d look a lot better out of that uniform…
Redundant, if you saw the “uniform” I linked up there.
Be very careful in your exploration of Skye out of uniform.
*hands JIMV a 12 pack*
Zed will have none of it. He has his woman.
Skye will have to walk this line alone, or at least until she can find her own Man.
If she survives the conversion she might get another chance with the Sheriff.
That, IMO, would be kewl; he would be a good influence on her… and he has the right outlook on life. I’m just a softie.
I noticed the evil angel of Skye shares the same mole/ beauty spot that Sam has on her cheek. As I look back on past episodes I see the spot changes cheeks on Sam and sometimes appears on Skye.
“What hump?
Again, Skye and her brats need to be sent down the road, now!
Bob
way too much good stuff going on in the world to be stuck in Zed’s bedroom. A broader view of things might be in order.
So, based on this awesome toon, here’s another inspired fund raiser idea:
Lovely nude of Sam (angel) and Skye (vixen) side by side.
With the required halo, horns and wings.
Thoughts?
Yea I have interesting thoughts on my long commute. Wish I was this creative all the time. 🙂
No doubt with Chris’ touch that would be awesome.
But as to Skye, soon to be obsolete (I hope). 😉
“Men do not care how nobly they live, but only how long, although it is within the reach of every man to live nobly, but within no man’s power to live long.” (Seneca the Younger) To my comrades in the 1st Marine Division) Vietnam 1967-1969 who lived nobly but not long, Semper Fi!
Yours, very sincerely and respectfully,
A. Lincoln
RINO One had his moments with words. Of course so did WJC and BHO.
Would that any of them were heartfelt, and I’m glad he didn’t say what he really did and meant.
( Opens DBD door, looks around) Say, I like what you did to the old place. Has that new toon smell. Very classy.
And this is why I don’t like change.
Sorry bro, I figure you want the truth. I hate it. Bad.
But I’ll deal with it, ’cause I like DBD and you. Good.
Agreed. Font is too light in color to be clear to my aging eyes. Don’t know how many comments there are when comments are loaded. (Weird personal preference. Has to do with how I consume the page.) But I ain’t going nowhere. I’ll live with the changes if they make Chris happy.
Not specific to today’s post, but when you pick “random” the ‘toon you get only offers next or previous – you no longer have the option of hitting random again.
Chris: I rather prefer the off center alignment showing the relationship of the comments.
My main problem is this seems very pale and harder to read. I kicked the display up to 150%
What was the reason for changing this, again?
While larger type is good, the lower contrast makes it harder to read. Can you do something about that, CM?
Looks like you upped the contrast and added back the reply offset.
Good for old eyes to see and old brains to follow.
I like the customer response around this place. 😉
Chris; you must be careful with consistency of the various beauty marks / freckles.
Okay, work in progress…buttons and widgets coming back. Unless I’m too stupid to figure it out (a distinct possibility) archives right now only brings up the current year with no way to jump back; you can get there with the chapter and calendar functions but a yearly back function is needed.
Holy carp!, this place became overwhelmingly white overnite!
Hmm, I can’t seem to put my finger on it.
It will rise to the surface soon enough.
Where’s Travis? I need a meaty bone with extra sauce to gnaw on.
