There are those few, those very few, who try to do the right thing for the people what put ’em in office. But they too are human, and get stained by The DC (District of Criminals) Swamp (Mordor on the Potomac).

Skye is right, the DildoCrats now-a-days stand for hate, divisiveness, class and race warfare. But it was not always so. Up until the mid 1980s, the Democrats stood for the working man, and the Republicans stood for the businessman. Then the children of the 60s grew older (but didn’t grow up) and became the political leaders and professors that have (helped) made things the way they are today.
Learn history, Skye. Start anywhere, doesn’t matter where. As deep or as skim as you want. Ancient Greece. The rise and fall of the Roman Empire. The Gauls. The French. Charles Martel. Andalusian Spain and the Moors. American colonialism. American expansion. The Great Depression. You may not get a degree, but you will be well educated, well armed and ready for whatever comes later. History may not repeat, but it rhymes.

Shouldn’t it be obvious that you cannot simultaneously support seditious stealth-socialist Democrat schemes like Social Security, Medicare, “free public education” etc etc while pretending to stand on Constitutional principles? The GOP is compromised at its core, which is why it never puts up a believable, heartfelt resistance to the still-ongoing march of socialism. As the only alternative party is pure marxian evil (with 0% functioning brain cells), we are obliged to keep the GOP afloat and in control, but the thrill is gone.
The naive, gullible GOP grants the decline-and-decay Left the sanction of “good intentions” about “helping people”. Until that lie is removed, nothing changes.
Now, I’ve been paying into SS for the last 46 years. That was SUPPOSED to be my retirement fund. Until those in the swamp decided to eat it for other things. THAT is ultimate bullshit.

It would be less of a problem if we followed the Constitution in it’s original meaning and didn’t let the SOB’s wield so much power. But the other problem is that politicians learn to follow their own self-interest, and that is to always increase the size and power of government so their little jobs become big jobs.

In the confines of political power the Constitution is only a tool to be used much as polls and ‘independent studies’. If it works for the politician they favor following it verbatim and if it doesn’t work for them they are all too happy to use it as TP on the nation.
The only way to save DC and state capitals for that matter is to make being a politician a real job. Constitutionally enact requirements where they have to work and be held responsible for their work. Elections don’t work when you get to choose between two bad choices or if they have the entire swamp working to undermine anything or anyone working on behalf of the people. The only way to do this is to shrink DC and state governments. Limit staffs, limit funds, limit consultants, remove nepotism and make the politicians pay for their own expenses and take from their pay the luxuries that the taxpayers provide for them.

The GOP stands (falls?) for the mixed economy scam.
“A mixed economy is a mixture of freedom and controls—with no principles, rules, or theories to define either. … The only danger, to a mixed economy, is any not-to-be-compromised value, virtue, or idea. The only threat is any uncompromising person, group, or movement. The only enemy is integrity” (Ayn Rand; “The New Fascism: Rule by Consensus,”_Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal_, 206).
(New) Left Progressives want an unmixed economy, pure & unpolluted by … freedom.
In any debate/confrontation over ideas, those who hold more consistent ideas will win out. A mixed economy is inconsistent by its very nature; mixing freedom with controls is like trying to mix water with oil. A mixed econmy is an economy in transition, transitioning either to capitalism (freedom) or socialism/fascism (control).
Of the tw political parties today, guess which is the more consistent advocate & of what ideas & which is ready to compromise at the drop of a hat.
Observe the current spectacle of repealing–oops, I mean, replacing–the ACA.
“There can be no compromise on basic principles. There can be no compromise on moral issues. There can be no compromise on matters of knowledge, of truth, of rational conviction” (Ibid; “‘Extremism,’ or the Art of Smearing,” _Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal_, 182).
As was said above, The Donald is a pragmatist. And a mondo capitalist. It has been proven, with extremely few exceptions, this is what works to make an economy that holds up.
A few days ago the NYT said this race had motivated Democrats nationwide (see $oro$ above) and that even Trump’s rich pastel polo crowd in north Atlanta was concerned. This is presumably a different crowd of deplorables than the poor dumb schmucks who slapped down the beast in November.

As Pamela alluded to, Boehner was likely an actual recipient of Obama’s “affections”. How else to explain the ass-kissing, the constant touching of The One™ every chance Boehner had to lay a tender hand on that deviate. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that Boehner studied Monica’s moves under the old Resolute Presidential desk, just so he could get it down pat.
Something I have never seen mention of is the fact that those who have been running the country for so long, the Deep State, have structured the government – Congress, the bureaucracy, the uni-Party, and the courts – to make it extremely difficult, if not impossible, to make the changes that Trump (and all of us who voted for him) want to see. Trump (and us, by extension) is allowed a few small “victories” to make it appear as if he has some control, but making significant _non_ socialist changes is not possible within the current framework, especially with all of the (over 300, IIRC) federal court appointments that Obama made (which most everyone missed while he was doing it, knowing it would be more effective than even a Congress populated only by Democrats).
I believe a physical reset will be required before the levers of power are returned to the people, before the Constitution can be returned to its place at the head of the table.
