I’m sensing there might be a dubble ontondra somewhere in that “rise up” part, specially since Damon’s giving Jan’s twin peaks a hand…

Now I understand what my older cousins were saying to the bride at a family wedding. “Gotta be careful, you can get a rise out of that man with the first breath of wind.” Considering the groom, I don’t think she had as much fun as Jan will be having.

Does the bent of the last couple of days indicate Chris is well and came through IRMA in good shape?
Between son on the east coast in Palm Beach Gardens, daughter on west coast near Tampa, and us right in the middle we’ve got the state covered. Irma’s path ran right between us in Sebring, and daughter in Oldsmar (north Tampa/St. Pete)…here power poles and trees and quite a few roofs (not ours) are gone, lakes are brimming, streets are flooded but passable, unlikely power will be back for days or more. Origially we were most concerned about son in PBG so he and fiancé came here, with the path change they had no flooding and power came back yesterday, they will head home today to check out wind damage to home and business plaza. Later in the storm path we were extremely worried about daughter and family as their home in Oldsmar is right at the top of Tampa bay and expected storm surge put them in evacuation zone; they went inland several miles to a friend (daughter’s fellow teacher at their church/school) and were still in an orange zone but with the storm’s further turn inland and category down to a 1 by the time it reached them, they never lost power, had no flooding, and while some trees went down they only lost their back fence. Like I said yesterday, thanks to God and all who spoke to him on behalf of us here in the fla. And yeah, we’ll rise up from this too, as will Houston…but man I do miss that again ‘n again thing that Damon and Jan are enjoying right now. Oh well, be thankful for the weekly I guess. :]

We only lost power (4pm Sat, came back on 11:45pm Mon) trees, tree limbs and wooden fences, between Bradenton and Sarasota by Tamiami trail.
Stuffed my generator in the trunk of the car and run it from there to run the refrigerator here and at the daughters.
Anything on the others living in the center state path?

Early on, it is, “Tri-weekly”. Then it got to be, “Try weekly.”
Now, it is: “Try… Weakly.”

I have to remember that. It’s a perfect description of the life arc of the human species.
Clean-up progresses, and things should be back to more-or-less normal by the end of the week.
Prayers and best wishes the folks in Florida. I was stationed at MacDill a few years back and can imagine what the storm surge did to that area.

MD, see comment above, no surge (actually a negatve surge in Tampa Bay, storm experts can’t explain that; tell me there’s no Divine intervention) , no flooding even in evacuation zones, and no power loss in some places. We in Sebring are dead center of state as is NYIAC a little north in Polk County, flooded roads, trees and lines down, no power foreseeable, some wind damage…coulda been a lot worse.

Mmm, lovin’ a double handful!
Regarding Obomination’s college records; if top secret classified national security documents can be leaked in such profusion, how can records which are confidential for personal privacy reasons, be kept secret for over 8 years? Oh, yeah… Occidental, Columbia and Harvard Law School are solidly in liberal control. George W. Bush’s grades at Yale eventually became public, but only because somebody leaked them to the New Yorker magazine.
Been prayin’ for y’all in Irma’s path… it’s by God’s grace there have been so few deaths. I’m believing there are many who prayed for the first time in a long time (if ever) and experienced His protection and salvation. “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13

Another invasion of a fertile crescent about to happen?
And speaking of crescents and invasions, Ayaan Hirsi Ali recently posted this interview with a top Indonesian Islamic scholar on Twitter:
