Contrary to school guidance counselor theories (a profession with all the qualifications of snake-oil salesmen), bullies don’t suffer from low “self-esteem”- they are narcissistic egotists who want to force everyone else to give them the worship they think they are due.
That’s why telling them they’re Really, Really Special doesn’t change their aggressive behavior. You’re just confirming what they already think of themselves.
This would tend to explain most progressives’ behavior. I wonder how many were schoolyard bullies as children?

Somehow, Skye as the evil queen in Redvolution doesn’t seem to be much of a stretch…I remember that teaser picture as well…although in reality, there wasn’t much teasing, all the regal goods were on display.
Leftist elites certainly hold themselves in high esteem, it’s what entitles them to be positioned as demigods with dominion over the herd.
But what the ‘toon references I think is their peddling of the faux self-esteem similar to what is done in schools and all lefty curricula, just another tool to keep the followers bought and under control…same as all the components of the dole, telling them “everything is free because you are awesome and you deserve it!” while privately sneering at them as expendable pawns in the plan for leftist dominion in their mystical Shangri la.
