Actually, there’s plenty of doubt for mental illness when this is psychological situation-normal for humans.
It is utterly common and ordinary for our brains to take someone and use them to embody an aspect of our own internal psyche. It’s equally common for us to act out our relationship to that aspect when dealing with that person. (i.e. if the trait the embody is one we like, we like them. If the trait they embody is one we don’t like, we don’t like them)
Mental illness is often normal brain functions taken to a dysfunctional degree. If you want an indicator of mental unbalance, consider the sheer volume of hatred leveled at Trump. The willingness to warp the FISA system and the Constitution to deny Trump his Presidency suggests some unbalanced people out there, but doesn’t of itself prove it.
