Reminds me of an old Twilight Zone episode in which a young Dennis Hopper plays a rabid brownshirt type who kills a Jewish shopkeeper and wants to know why their leader is hiding in the darkness. It is a direct reference to the exact same symbol used by the Roman Republic to represent itself. In spite of what the likes of Virgil tried to claim about the origins of the Republic, it was actually assembled out of refugee populations, which is why the Romans were so strict about following the Law. They knew Diversity was not a strength but a weakness and the Law was what bound the sticks of the fasces together.
