Intended to be built in an historic park where no one wants it.
And studies have shown that it will not really benefit the neighborhood (and could actually make things worse, especially in terms of traffic and property values).
Sounds like the perfect monument, and a fitting tribute to, Obama and his legacy.
Very strong rumor has it that Barry is in negotiations with the Vatican to establish a permanent lease on the Sistine Chapel for use as his Presidential Library. The biggest sticking point is, reportedly, obtaining permission for Kehinde Wiley to replace God’s face with Obama’s in the Creation painting….
Nothi g ahite as sexy as gals in cowboy boots. Except maybe gals in cowboy boots and flimsy gowns. Btw the flag at Obama’s library should always be flown up side down.
Design for the damn thing looks like a cross between a Mayan temple and a mausoleum. It is Rahmbo Emmanuel’s parting gift to the taxpayers of the State of Illinois. There should be a giant statue of the finger you use to eat poi out in front.
Worst part is that it was supposed to be privately funded. Instead, the citizens of Illinois get to pay for it.
The only reasonable way to do it would be a Virtual Presidential Library online.
That way, it could have a constantly-morphing CGI building of all possible designs (including a Mt. Rushmore in the background with four busts of The One replacing Washington, Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, and Jefferson), the entries could be instantly updated as previous versions (i.e. previous lies) became “no longer operative”, and visitors could be “entertained” at every turn by videos of The One’s self-admiring rants.
Not to mention having a running audio track of him going “I, I, I, me, me, me” nonstop.
He could even get the same people who did the ACA’s website to create it. Complete with spaghetti coding, just to show how smart they all are.
And The One, his Chicago cronies, and the rest of their hangers-on would be free to do what they do best. Pocket the $224M and use it to further their dreams of power.
Don’t forget the contribution to the Clinton Foundation, guys. You know what Hillary will do otherwise.
Vanity is a killer, especially in Chicago…and DC. Don’t go to SE DC without body armor, proper arms, and a strong dog. Hubris is a dangerous cocktail of overconfidence, over-ambition, arrogance and pride fuelled by power and success. When found alongside contempt for the advice and criticism of others, hubris causes leaders to significantly overreach themselves, taking risky and reckless decisions with harmful, sometimes catastrophic consequences for themselves, their organizations, institutions, and even for society. Given the economic, social, and geopolitical damage that can ensue, we should learn to recognize the signs of how hubristic leaders talk and act, and how to mitigate the consequences. The Ancient Greeks recognized its hazards and counselled against hubris in their myths and tragedies, often tying it to a reckoning meted out by the goddess of retribution and vengeance, Nemesis. http://theconversation.com/us (site is tripe but this was a good definition of hubris and nemesis).
Dems wonder how we got to the present situation. Us Deplorables had had enough of the arrogance without experience, a chief apologizing for our hard work, damning us for our historic flaws, mocking our greatness as a beacon of hope and an example of opportunity for all. I wonder how long it will take for the library, built in Chicago, to come under fire from stray rounds shot side-grip from turd-bag ne’er do wells who consistently make poor life choices. Or will that $224M set aside come with a wall?
I suppose it is entirely out of any conceivable thought that all of the school records, birth certificate and every thing else that he has locked up-hidden would be there. On display?
Nah. This world will melt down in our sun exploding first.
I’m willing to cede him Chi-town, and be more than willing to help him pipe the rest of the swamp in DC that he largely created, right there into Mordor with him.
Might even be the perfect setting for his “library”…the swamp itself could serve the purpose, save the remaining good folks in that “ill” state a lot of money; just put up a sign. “Here lies the legacy of the thang, forever may it remain”.
I don’t know about Okeefenokee, but I’m sitting here in the bullseye of Hurricane Florence, just outside Wilmington, NC. We should lose power about dark-thirty and then spend the next two or three days getting pounded and deluged with rain. August was extremely wet, so the ground is already saturated. Flooding and falling trees are going to be a major problem. Our downtown was flooded by Hurricane Matthew two years ago and nearly half the businesses have never re-opened.
When I lived in Texas in the 80’s and early 90’s I actually spent some time in the exact area when Zed and his family and friends hang out – what I wouldn’t give for some of that dry desert right now! Please keep us in your prayers, folks. We’ll probably be without power for at least a week, possibly more! I’m going to miss DBD, but catching up should be fun. If anyone wants to track the storm in realtime, check out: http://www.windy.com
Having to have survived the blizzard/flood of ’78 my prayers are with you. It was only the first of 3 “hundred year” storms to hit my town, now I live in North Georgia and thank G-d every day.

One is as much of a swamp as the other.
Hard to say which swamp is more dangerous…
Please, don’t endanger alligators with anything to do with Obama. The gators are producers of shoes, belts, wallets, purses, and tasty meat.
A library that will have no books or papers.
With a design most people think looks ridiculous

Come on, you must have a toxic / radioactive waste dump *somewhere* for it to beautify! 😛
Hmmmm, it *is* lacking that ‘green’ quality we’ve come to expect. Force him to pay for a windmill on the roof to power the whole thing.

I think you may have misheard that, pretty sure it was “Cistern Chapel”, where a porcelain throne will be the portal for all content.
NEW ILLINOIS BUDGET INCLUDES $224 MILLION FOR OBAMA PRESIDENTIAL CENTER.
Cheap at twice the cost /sarc

Why do I think it will end up using materials from 1930’s temporary
housing and the funds will be diverted to other more projects.
Or left-over FEMA trailers from Katrina.
Contractor should take the money and erect a sign that says “We didn’t build that”

Who would be able to tell that the ISIS flag is upside down?

Spin
Rope, Tree, Chicongo Politician, some assembly required.
Stay out of the Okefenokee! That’s our swamp, and we’re proud of it!
And I predict construction will take longer than planned, there will be significant cost overruns and the final product will be crap.
