Spend too much time on the fence, things tend to just fall away.

Try a diamond-edged hole saw, good for masonry.

ROFLOL! Thx, CM, I needed that chuckle just before bed.

BTW, what was the results of Sam’s sample of Kiko’s carbonized meteorite squab? Enquiring minds, and all that.

How much Q Sauce is required for Kiko’s cooking attempt?
Maybe she will have a lighter, deft hand at pastries.

Goldfinger turning on laser: No, Mr. Bond. I want you to try the squab

On the upside, there is no indication of ballistic squab interfering with local flight patterns or satellite constellations…

…so, she went through 3 dril bits to get a sample? She have a drill press in the kitchen? Knowing her reputation… likely.

Solid carbide drill bits are rather fragile, suitable for rigid setups like mills and lathes, with smooth uninterrupted cutting. Trying to penetrate the bumpy uneven pockmarked surface of intensely carbonized squab just about guarantees breakage. Carbide-tipped HSS would work better.

At least these days you can simply buy a Drill Doctor sharpener that’ll even do carbide, trying to do those little drills by hand is never fun.

Speaking of the Drill Doctor, just yesterday I had the need to put a couple holes in A500, perhaps similar to Kiko’s Squab. Of course lacking the “proper” tools I set off to get started with a 1/2” drill and made better progress than I thought I might, getting both holes about half way through before the cutting edge was destroyed. Out comes the DDr, Saved the day with a couple sharpenings all was good, far better than going through 3-4 bits.

A carbide tipped saw blade would have been the place to start. In the table saw, naturally.

Chris, I have been wondering whether Jo is going to evolve in such a manner that she becomes more human over time, including developing emotions. If that is indeed the case I am more than willing to help ‘guide’ her long that route, me being the helpful type that I am. I’m even an engineer like Sam so I’ll have at least a theoretical understanding of her systems.

    Just sayin’….

Darn, I can’t type worth a darn this morning. Not enough caffeine in the bloodstream yet. What I meant to write was “to help ‘guide’ her along that route”.

Oh, and I can also cook, bake, and do up some mean steaks on the grill! Mom, Dad, Grandpa and Grandma didn’t raise a single dimensional engineer!

There are definitely some routes to guide her along, but be damn sure she likes you, and knows what you like, beforehand. 😉

Might want to consider getting a carbide tip attached if you’re gonna be drilling that, IYKWIMAITYD. 😉

Yesterday LowKey suggested feeding the next antifa incursion with a case or two of squab from the “deep firer” instead of deep frier.

Whether typo, subliminal, or intentionally subtle humor, like I said then that is funny right there I don’t care who you are.

I’m going with intentional; I mean the dude is LowKey after all.

Engineers needed: California Statewide Lead Ammo Ban Goes Into Effect July 1

They catch you with any lead ammo doing anything related to hunting, even if it’s the defensive load in your carry piece, you’re in big trouble. In conjunction with air quality standards, casting your own lead bullets could go away soon. Can’t be infringing on your rights when you can still technically buy factory, which they want to track.

So I would like someone to engineer a tool for a common arbor press that’ll swage solid copper bullets from a soft copper like house wiring. There are swaging tools available that make copper jackets, but solids are discouraged for reasons like getting each piece of the source material the proper weight when I can envision a square bottom that gets trimmed for length/weight.

Do we have the wits to outfox the banners yet again?
