I was always a Chevy man back in the day, my 50th birthday present in ’04 was my ’54 hotrod pickup, since re-homed. And since the sellout to Zero my loyalties have changed; newer Ford trucks are far superior to the other brands now anyway, and GM selling out to Zero cinched my defection.
The fifties was a golden era for them both though…my ’54 truck had a lovely (homely?) rounded design that I identified with being rounded and homely myself…and the very next year, actually the end part of that year, the design was radically changed to a streamlined shape that was also very attractive.
Same thing with the old Fords in that golden era where radical design changes year-to-year was the norm…that lovely straight-lined ’57 our heroes there are driving could not be more removed from the ’56 which much like Chev was a very cool rounded and sculptured design. Both beautiful, and all of them and the culture of American automotive iron in that era were just incredible, never to be repeated again. Great memories and vestiges of a simpler time.

The artwork of that 2nd panel is phenomenal. To catch all the nuances of glarespots from the viewer perspective to the heavy moisture content in the air (storm’s comin’) and the truck itself. One of the best single panels featuring a vehicle I’ve ever seen here.
As a walking corpse, the feds let him out for someone to remedy the lack of justice. They need violence to push their agenda. Project Gun Walker failed. This is a salvage attempt.
Maybe the boy’s father…with an old coach gun. No shell hulls left behind…solid wads so no plastic…plan ole buckshot, no double-aught. Take his time..

(When I was stationed at Minot, they repeatedly warned us in case of breakdown to STAY WITH THE VEHICLE. Yet there were always stories about locals who didn’t and some weren’t found till the following spring.)
