Even better. Hebrew or Aramaic words and thinking really have different connotations than Greek let alone that to American English. In Israel, when I lived there for a few years, English people would tell me that I only spoke America, Badly. True. Some of the most entertaining of conversations was with a Christian Arab friend and his young lady employee. Both using American English, Modern Hebrew, Arabic, and Aramaic. We were discussing some Bible passages. She was getting more intense because as she claimed “Both of you dummies didn’t know Aramaic.”

First lesson: If you have a ranch, you “ranch.” You “farm” on a farm. Texas has a system of FARM to market roads, and a system of RANCH to market roads.

I am, and yet I’m still a student of the English Tongue.
For instance, I only just learned the word Trivium, and it suddenly became obvious why I didn’t learn it from anyone during my youth.
Trivium is the first word the Socialists banned from the vocabulary.
The Trivium was once a core component of education.
It is no longer.
Except that most ranches are by necessity also farms, as they raise the feed for their livestock…lots of plowing and planting and sowing, but no farm roads required other than the tractor hauling the bales and corn back to the barn and grass for silage to the silo for later. A ranch is absolutely a farm too.
Ah, Ranch dressing, eh? That backlit silhouette and Kiko’s hopefully soon return suggest they may have at least a couple ranch/field/whatever hands helping till the fields and herd the cattle before very long.
And sorta off-topic, but I’m suddenly thinking there needs to be some sort of monument near the fencepost where Zed and Jack first became “good friends.” What could it be and what would it be called? Maybe “Lookout, Blackeye Corner” or some such?
I had a farm in near Los Indios, outside of San Benito, Texas. Nothing to hear at night but coyotes, and then in 2003, we started hearing things that weren’t normal to the area. We used folks staying at a Catholic mission for field work, paid them well, fed them, knew where they lived and they were legally in the asylum process. I bought them tools they could keep at the mission. All that changed in the early 2000s. We heard gunshots on the other side of the river, and occasionally they’d dump a body on our side of the river. Then they started shooting folks on our side of the river. W didn’t help much. O’Bozo hosed us. Trump didn’t do what he said he would. And now Bei Den unleashed bs on the Valley and changed the whole complexion. Folks don’t wave so often on the FM roads like they used to. There’s a level of apprehension about that wasn’t there before. How to get back to the way it was is an operative question. A ranch will have a farm on it, as someone else described. We had sorghum, then coastal hay, which fed the cattle on other ranches. So I had a farm, but not the ranch part.
As I understand, Trump did his damnedest and was not able to finish the wall because of the Democrats and Rhinos fighting him every mile of the border.
This is an undeniable FACT!! And while the Democrats blocking and stonewalling his efforts angered me considerably……it was the back stabbing RINO’s that enraged me the most.
