Thinking about the violence coming our way thanks to the O’Biden cartel, there is an interesting dilemma regarding the tactics of the invaders battle planners.
When the ‘word’ is given and the thousands of illegal muslims, chi-coms, MS13, etc form up to begin their terror campaigns, do they immediately begin guerilla warfare in the large population areas? If they commit to those targets because of the political and newsworthy impact, that leaves a very well-armed group of citizens in their rear.
Now the rural citizens are not motivated to attack the invaders while they are in the cities nor is it wise to do so. But when sufficient invaders are committed to their urban warfare, the citizens can surround the cities, cut off food and water, and let the invaders starve.
Now there are a lot of holes in such a scenario starting with: who is going to organize the citizens? And can the everyday folks living in the non-urban areas bring themselves to pull a trigger on other human beings? This is more difficult than one would think as our heightened level of civility (compared to much of the rest of the world) works against us.
Lots to consider … but it would be prudent for us Dads to buy weapons and ammo and then be sure our family members are at least familiar with these tools.
It’s NOT what you have. It’s what you use. I knew a guy who had a fifth wheeler full of ammunition. It was astounding how bad of a shot he was. I had never seen him hit a target of an kind.

You might want to read Connections by James Burke (1978) (available free online several places now), specifically Chapter 1, “The Trigger Effect”. Or just watch the first episode of his BBC series of the same name, also available online.
It won’t take a coordinated effort by the “country class” as Codevilla called them to bring down urban civilization. Simple failure of the electrical grid and other services would suffice.
There was even a movie based on that chapter of that book, titled The Trigger Effect (1996). It starred Kyle MacLachlan, and wasn’t very good, but it portrayed the way things would fall apart accurately.
That is the fundamental flaw of the progressive wet dream of imposing their Utopia by martial law (as in the movie The Siege). Without someone to keep their infrastructure running, the cities cannot survive long enough to become the centers of an aggressive authoritarian state.
The rule is, “Every city is just ten days from starvation”. Another version goes “Everyone in a city is just a week from murder and possibly cannibalism”.
The supremacists have waited too long and put all their eggs in one basket.
But arrogance and stupidity have always ridden in the same cart. Always lashing the horses, wanting to go faster and faster, plunging headlong toward their Radiant Future.
And never seeing the precipice until it was too late.
That was one of, if not the most fascinating series I can remember.

I’m glad you mentioned water. I had been without water to my house of a month and it was eye opening. Drinking water, toilet water, taking a shower or bath was a problem. It rained so I had buckets for the toilet but keeping clean was a problem. Drinking water was the least of my problems since I had gallons of water stored up. I used rainwater buckets to flush. I have large blue barrels for emergency water for flushing and cleaning but neglected to fill them. I was thinking of rerouting my gutter to fill barrels but never started the project. I know of a guy who was without power for two weeks and he burned a gallon of diesel a day for the generator. I still don’t have hot water and I haven’t washed dishes in a month.
At least all you had to do was get water in, we had a broken sewer line and it took eight months to get someone to fix it. We had lots of water, just nowhere for it to go, ended up spending a fortune on hotels because apparently the insurance company decided that since it was broken underground where it attached to the street sewer they didn’t have to pay out. Flushing the toilet with a bucket instead of running out to gas stations and coffee shops would have been a godsend, especially since there in’t anything open after 1AM here.

At the house in Texas, we’re on rocky sloped land, municipal water and sewers; electric hvac etc. We’re spitting distance from a hydroelectric dam. So long as the Colorado River keeps flowing, that should be secure. That being said, we lost power for 5 days in the winter of 2020/21 and chaos wasn’t far from the door due to supply chain disruptions… but firearms are readily available.
At the house in Canada, we have arable land, our own well and septic, a diesel whole-of-house generator… but Sparklesocks O’Blackface and his Mendacious Marxist Minions hate firearms and make it nearly impossible to get any…
My wife is Texan and her preferences are noted. My pension is Canadian and she doesn’t have a pension… While the snowbird lifestyle is working for now, if the world goes sideways, cost/benefit analysis won’t be easy.

We were without power for 27 days due to an ice storm some years back. No power, no generator (had one installed the next summer). Fortunately, we had town water run in the subdivision a year earlier, so we had fresh water. If I’d still been on the well we’d have been toast. Used the living room woodstove to keep the house warm, and a Coleman camping stove to cook. The snowdrift in the backyard served as a refrigerator. Oil lamps for light (had a collection I had used when I was stationed in Turkey. We got three hours of electricity a day, four days a week.)

I’ve, personally, had to draw twice. In neither case did I fire. In neither case did I need to. In neither case was I arrested, charged, or jailed.
The old “if you draw, you must use” canard is dangerous fuddlore and should not be taken as sound.
Remember, the most dangerous part of a deadly confrontation can easily be trying to defend your actions in a hostile court.
If you draw, you should be on a hair trigger. You should be READY to shoot. You should be WILLING to shoot. You should be PREPARED to shoot. But, you should also be prepared to NOT shoot if the situation de-escalates.
Everything in the previous paragraph should also have been baked into your brain well before you strapped that hogleg around your waist.

One a subzero night last week, in a “nice’ neighborhood two doors down from their Aldercreature, the legal citizens and residents of the Hispanic gang, the legai citizens and residents of the Biack gangs, and the illegal invaders from Venezuela, decided to have a little dust-up over (wait for it….) a double parked automobile. Eight people shot.
Word is the illegal Venezuelans were better armed and much better shots, than the homegrown criminal gangs.
Neighbors have been helping neighbors in the country for years and that equals good comms. Communication is key to any successful joint operations. Most of us have weapons, and forming into companies, platoons, and fire teams will take good communication. Getting along helps. We don’t see that type of cooperation in the urban areas unless it’s to put out the “science is real, your rioting is okay, and we excuse your shitty behavior because it’s your nature/culture” signs in front yards. Or on mass shoplifting sprees. Those folks make easy targets for the baddies once it starts. Good. I don’t want to care for those idiots when the blood starts letting.
Which is why it’s so important to learn (or re-familiarize yourself) with old-school communications systems like CB radios, Ham (shortwave) radio, morse code, and so on. Even in just a plain old natural-disaster type of emergency (hurricane, blizzard, earthquake, etc.), having some kind of communication channel that’s portable, battery-powered, and NOT dependent on a grid of transciever towers whose backup batteries are probably only good for 24-48 hours at best, can be critical.
Chris, could you please be a little more articulate with the girl’s speech. Just because they are country, they don’t have to sound like inbred trailer trash. Home schooling means a better education and knowledge. I hope the girls have a sense of quality and refinement. Thank you.

I have thought for some time that if there’s a full-scale nuke war, our cities will not be targeted by our enemies. Destroy the electrical grid and see what emerges from the big cities by the millions. It will be just as horrifying and devastating as a foreign invading army.

Fresh food is only going to be veggies and available only from farms that grow it and any possible trucks carrying food. Meat has to be cut up and how many city people can start a fire without Bics. Read John Kass’ blog. He’s been a reporter in Chicago literally for decades and tells exactly how the ruling junta there thinks and “works”.
They couldn’t get away with it it if they didn’t have the majority of the “news media” there on their side- lying for them.
All of the above think everybody who works and pays taxes is what Kass calls a “chumbolone”. I think you can guess the definition of that and it isn’t complimentary.
As for Kass, I suspect he would be happy to see the lot of them hanged.

Just spitballn’, with the electrical grid down, eating food is pretty much going to be raw. Fresh food is only going to be veggies and available only from farms that grow it and any possible trucks carrying food. Meat has to be cut up and how many city people can start a fire without Bics. The resulting fights and scavenging will be nasty, brutish, and short. City people will not make it far.

As far as folks having the will to drop hammer on other folks: a lot of folks I’ve known, myself included, have had to put down a beloved dog personally, not having the money for a vet. Pretty sure dropping the hammer on a human enemy won’t require as much pain or soul-searching.
If that alleged “human being” is a politician, a bureaucrat, or an alphabet soup traitor, the choice to pop a cap will be so much less stressful!

You’re thinking of taking on people who argue which gun is best to keep in their pickups. They are also much better shots having lots of practice with both sidearms and rifles. We don’t do that “spray and pray” type of shooting so common in the cities. We hit what we’re aiming at and require only a single shot to do so.
And we have a lot more ammo than you do.
Hopefully it’s on a really cold day so the manure spreaders can get a good rinsing out while the mob approaches.
