“Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.”
    Declaration of Independence

Back in 1997, the MSM published examples of questions found on the citizenship exam (from that time period).

One question asked, “What is the most important philosophical statement found in the Declaration of Independence?”

As we all know, the answer is, “Governments [derive] their just powers from the consent of the governed; [and] whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of [our inalienable rights], it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government.”

The “correct” answer, according to the official answer key, was “All men are created equal.”

Trust the government to get this exactly wrong. It’s the Declaration of Independence, for heaven’s sake, not the Declaration of Social Democratic Philosophy.

Yes, “it is their duty”. Someone said about duty – Something many try to avoid, perform poorly, then always brag about doing.

We have the Right; we have the duty. Question is, has our present circumstance reached the “insufferable”…and, if so, in what form shall our “new Guards” take and how.

Remember Whitmer’s “kidnaping plot” was almost-majority Fed Stooges, quislings, even Special Agents that instigated the “plot”.

I remember that Pogo cartoon when it came out and saved it for a long time…next one you should find a way to work in would be a riff on the greatest (only great) Doonesbury strip from the Sunday Jimmy Carter was inaugurated: Zonker’s conversation with his begonia on Carter’s ‘a government as good as the American people’ line…in which the begonia observes the reason government is needed is people aren’t necessarily good….

    Preview of Coming Attractions?

The 4th of July weekend in Chicago has long been locally known among First Responders as the “Sh!tshow of the Year,” averaging 14 killed and 67 wounded.

At the 60% complete mark, the totals this year are 12 killed and 61 wounded.

Due to an unseasonably cold, wet, spring, no doubt blamed on man-made Climate Change, this year got off to a slow start. That is because Officer Winter is the most effective member of any police force.

Once the temperatures reached the 70s, the ferals have wasted little time closing the performance gap.

The point of all this is that unless Officer Winter comes off of Medical in early August and turns in a performance not seen since the last Ice Age, or some guy named Noah starts building an Ark on the lakefront, the Demoncrat National Convention is highly likely to be the Sh!tshow of the Ages.’

Historical note: August is the only month in Chicago that has never recorded snow dating back to the Fort Dearborn Massacre Workplace Violence Incident.

Amen. Transferred to NAS Glenview in Feb ’78. Was a late Easter that year, well into April; we enjoyed a White Easter. Then, capping the year, came the winter of ’78-’79. If I NEVER experience that again, it’ll be way too soon . . .

So…ammunition from vending machines, what could go wrong ?

    https://redstate.com/alexparker/2024/07/06/freedom-feels-different-in-a-red-state-alabama-launches-ammo-vending-machines-n2176435

If I buy a box of ammunition from a store that doesn’t use a barcode reader and will take cash, there’s no way to say where it came from once it’s out of the box unless the ‘microtagging the powder’ bit takes off and even then it doesn’t prove anything except where and when that lot was made.

With this system, the machine selects which exact box you get, knows exactly when you got it and any identifiers on it are linked to you with a photo ID, bank card info and a full facial scan…and how many boxes have that exact same identifier code printed on them ?

Nothing is done at that much extra cost without purpose and I know I’d never lend a round of it to anyone else and police the brass after using it on a range as well as burning the box. I certainly wouldn’t use it for carry whether a permit to do so is required or not.

I also can’t help but wonder how long before the first vending machine ends up pulled out of the wall by a gang looking for reloads…maybe already ?

If something is ‘too good to be true’ it ain’t.
