If you hire based upon finding the most highly qualified individuals available, the average IQ of your pool of applicants will be greater than 105. And, you will end up with a high performing team that makes the bar patrons on Tatooine, or the alien extras in a Men in Black movie, look homogeneous and provincial.
Hire from among those who couldn’t make it as a JV benchwarmer, or hire from among the All-Stars. The choice is yours.

That sort of thing seems to be on full display with FEMA in NC.
I believe it was William F. Buckley Jr. who said that you could improve the Federal government immensely by firing every department head and replacing them with the first five hundred names chosen at random from an average-sized city’s telephone book.
George Carlin had an amusing response to disaster response that adked two questions. “What the fk was that?” “What the fk do we do now?” Hierarchy of needs: shelter, food, water, safety. The rest ( cleanup, rebuild) comes in weeks number two and three and beyond.
A buddy of mine in NC evacuated long enough for safety. Plenty of storm debris but no major damage or flooding. He says the death toll will be in the thousands and the government is burying such.
FEMA is finally going door to door as yesterday they came by his place. They started up the driveway but he turned them around, told them that they weren’t welcome.
His take was any assessment they’d make was for their benefit, not his.
Thankfully, Stacey Abrams is not actually working for FEMA. However, she is working to get more people to register vote(Only as Democrats)and is on the Global Warming Bandwagon, likely not realizing the new term is ‘Climate Change.’
Death toll for Helene is somewhere over 300 in NC, and there are still hundreds of people missing. It could top a thousand, but it isn’t there yet.
FEMA has withdrawn teams in several areas due to ‘threats,’ allegedly made by ‘Militia outfits.’
The Cajun Navy is such an outfit, and they had one of their relief camps rotor washed by an NCNG Blackhawk. The Blackhawk was delivering generators and other supplies, but couldn’t find the LZ and aborted the mission, but not until they buzzed the area pretty good. Investigation is ongoing…

Unfortunately this one’s a little too real for me. Many nieces, nephews and cousins of various degrees still missing in NC.
