Now will the gals get him to wear chaps, sans cullotes?

I suggest a matching brace of revolvers, one not welded and fully functional. Just in case–

While there is a certain jean à ce quoi to putting an almost 200-year-old Colt to its intended purpose, my concern would be it vanishing in the evidence room if you were placed in a position of having to use it. Such items have been known to tempt people who really should know better into committing acts of larceny.

Turning a functional one into a gavel is just wrong on so many levels.

    LOL! Love it!
I can see some very nervous people on the other end of that gavel.
Even if one can’t shoot it, it’s heavy enough to concuss someone over the head.

Sam used the Klingon Iron Claw & Ball as a gavel.

Reminds me of a scene i L. Neil Smith’s “Probability Brach” Where the President of the North American Confederacy breaks his gavel, so he pulls out his hogleg, uses it for a gavel, then threatens to start awarding extra navels to unruly Congress critters.

And the gun people on this board didn’t mention it’s not a Navy but a Model 1860. The curvature near the ram rod block. The most beautiful revolver ever made in close contention to the Colt Python.

I have to give another thank you to Chris for the wonderful entertainment.

Could also be a Colt 1861 Navy. Either way, I saw no reason to nit-pick our host’s art work.

The 1860 has the rebated cylinder like the one in today’s comic. The 1861 does not.

I do have to thank Chris for these comics. They are a favorite and I see them when I open my computer.

I am just tying to give information to educate. I am not trying to be a smart ass and my typing is a bit shaky so I don’t lead with very polite preambles. Sorry.

For me it’s like seeing a Corvette and someone calling it a Camaro. No offence.

I’d pass on the gavel conversion. Something about Rule Two keeps buzzing in my brain.

Rule Two – Don’t let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy. The gavel would be facing away from the court and the barrel held sideways.

Eventually, you have to come to grips with the idea that something which looks like a firearm is not a direct threat. Just make sure you never mix it up with a functioning one is all, stain the barrel woodgrain or something for identification, but at least if you do get it mixed up it won’t accidentally shoot someone since you should be following the rules anyway and even a cap and ball doesn’t go off if it isn’t capped.
It’s getting so bad someone posted the inevitable comment to a picture of a girl on the firing line with her finger on the trigger “booger hook off the bang switch, darlin'”…which begged the question “how the #$%^& else is she going to shoot at her target ?”

An 1858 Remington has safety notches between the nipples- – – -no need to weld anything. A fully functional smokewagon in the mayor’s hand a good way to guarantee decorum at a city council meeting. Even that rainbow haired land whale who stinks up the place on a regular basis would probably behave!

Keep the gavel for gavellin’ and the real iron out of sight. If nothing else, throwing it can make a for a good distraction as you draw, maybe good enough you don’t need to fire 😉

The colts also have a safe way of carrying. The hammer is split and there is a tiny pin between the cylinders.

Here I am again, totally off the rails of Mayor Six Gun arc here, sorry Chris.

But damn it man, this supposed conservative leader, less steady in every way than Joe, openly seeks to substitute his corrupt judgment for that of “MOST AMERICAN VOTERS”. Speaking about the Russkie/Ukraine scripted/conscripted war, he says:

“To most American voters, I think the simple answer is, ‘Let’s stay out of it,'” McConnell said. “That was the argument made in the ’30s, and that just won’t work.”

Won’t work for him because what he’s really after, is preventing the REAL new sheriff in town, PDJT, from shutting down his mil gravy train, and he wants to stop that by any means necessary, even actually comparing the non-interventionist MAGA admin (that’s us!) to isolationists of pre-WWII, making not so subtle connection to Nazi enablers, but letting his only true agenda out of the bag with his next breath, saying that he chose to lead the mil appropriations committee because “That’s where the real money is.” Meaning that’s where HIS real money comes from. Traitorous piece of shit needs to GO!
