No, H.R. 6090, known as the Antisemitism Awareness Act of 2023, was not signed into law. While it passed the House of Representatives on May 1, 2024, it did not pass the Senate and therefore did not become law.
That EO specifically pertains to discriminatory actions but not speech. It references inflammatory rhetoric, but the EO does not enforce actions against speech.

In this universe, maybe he did…by autopen when he was at the DD having BBQ.
HR6090 criminalized nothing. All it did was authorize the DOE to use a particular definition of antisemitism when determining if the acts of a grant recipient under Title VI constituted antisemitism.
Also, Trump did not sign it. It was a Biden admin Congress, the bill never got to his desk, and it is dead.
I’m really having a hard time seeing where all this misinformation is leading.
To be precise, all it did was nothing, as it was never passed by Congress and never got to Biden’s desk, much less ever got signed by Trump.
It’s not the first piece of legislation to use a stupidly chosen definition for the wrong purpose (as any gun owner can tell you), and the fact that that it never got through Congress might just reflect that.

Pot o’ gold at the end of this arc.
CM doesn’t make wildly erratic and erroneous statements; setting up something or somebody.
I’ve been in the DBD game a long time so I’m legit curious where Chris is going with this. If nothing else, it’s surprising how many commenters are showing how well programmed they are to yell “antisemitism” on cue.
Trump has not signed that bill. But fiction intro’d into a daily comic can be interesting in the ‘what if’ category. Like entertaining what happens if the Japanese come back to Pearl Harbor for the 3rd strike…
But the bill is dead in the Senate and that’s a good thing for the 1st Amendment.
“What if . . .” indeed. Genda got on his knees and begged Nagumo to launch that third strike — aimed at the submarine pens and fuel farms. Think of the consequences had he; our subs held the line for the first 18 months, and the fleet (what was left of it [the CARRIERS]) would have been “out of gas” within two weeks. Paints quite a different picture, don’t it?
It provides for an excellent read: “In 2007, bestselling authors Newt Gingrich and William R. Forstchen launched a new epic adventure series about World War II in the Pacific, with their book Pearl Harbor: A Novel of December 8th, 1941…
Gingrich and Forstchen’s now critically acclaimed approach, which they term “active history,” examines how a change in but one decision might have profoundly altered American history. In Pearl Harbor they explored how history might have been changed if Admiral Yamamoto had directly led the attack on that fateful day, instead of remaining in Japan. Building on that promise, Days of Infamy starts minutes after the close of Pearl Harbor, as both sides react to the monumental events triggered by the presence of Admiral Yamamoto. In direct command of the six carriers of the attacking fleet, Yamamoto decides to launch a fateful “third-wave attack” on the island of Oahu, and then keeps his fleet in the area to hunt down the surviving American aircraft carriers, which by luck and fate were not anchored in the harbor on that day.
Smart man Gingrich, though ultimately just an interesting writer of “what if” fiction.
Now let’s do the CW.

Whatever one thinks of the Jews (and I see no reason to have anything against them as a whole – they’re individuals like everyone else and anyone can be an angel or an asshole), Israel is the sole bastion of civilization in a region that’s crucial to the whole world. It is very much in America’s best interest to keep the country and the people as strong allies. For the sake of fuck, they fight the Islamic menace almost singlehandedly! This isn’t brainwashing, it’s decades of sifting through all kinds of information and discerning the reality.
I don’t understand this seemingly sudden turn by Chris and I’m not willing to set it aside as merely a fictional device – the characters, especially Zed, have always seemed too strongly based on Chris himself. It’s what, 20 years of DBD? I don’t speak up often though I’ve seen every strip – who else remembers details like Mari’s and Kiko’s names being reversed when they were first introduced as babies? There were hints of antisemitism here before but that’s all they were – mild asides, easily dismissed. Now I’m watching warily to see where this goes.
It is a clone of hr 6090 and was passed by congress and signed by Trump.
Back in 2017 my old friend Al, a conservative, hated Trump for moving the US embassy to Jerusalem. I have never understood this extreme hatred for Jews, particularly Israeli Jews. It goes hand in hand with a disliking of banks, which is probably where it all began. It is just as stupid and virulent as TDS!
Is anyone taking into consideration that one of his early and central characters is Naomi Grishin, an Israeli colonel in the IDF? And that she is the mother with Zed to produce Mia. I don’t see antisemitism. But I’m not sure what Chris is trying to convey. Call me obtuse.
Maybe this whole arc is a test of his commenttariat. To see how much you know and to what extent you will research and fact check things that don’t seem right. So far some are doing quite well. S 558 is still in the early stages and has absolutely not been signed by President Trump. Given its similarities to the previous Biden bill, I hope the odds are slim to none that it will ever get to his desk. And I’m not sure that any law for any special group is constitutional to begin with. One law for everyone. One ring to rule them all. In the land of DC where the liars lie.
Tune in tomorrow for the surprising end to the arc.
Not to say the end of the Jew controversy, in Israel and here, that will be ongoing for decades to come. If you don’t like the truth, you may have to do as we have urged the mouthy leftists to honor their threats to just leave.
People would do well to remember that this is a work of fiction set in a parallel universe that’s close to ours but not quite exactly the same. We don’t have sentient androids…yet…and many other things here are what we want to see, not what is happening today. To my knowledge, Trump has never been to a BBQ barn named ‘DD’…but there’s hope. 😉
On the other hand, Chris has proven to be quite good at drawing out responses from commenters that show their real leanings, at least from the ones that aren’t paid by the dnc.
So I lived in Israel for 3 years up in the Galilee. A close friend from Bradenton moved his family there in the same village. Neither of us are Jews. The locals loved us because we could repair things and had a pickup truck. Most locals were older and needed some help. We were also recruited by my landlord that if “anything” happened with the crazies that sometimes tried IEDs in the area, to come to his house as he had things hidden we should help use. Yes, asswipes there and here. Meh. Big Deal.
“If nothing else, it’s surprising how many commenters are showing how well programmed they are to yell “antisemitism” on cue.”
-Winner winner chicken dinner.
I think that Mr. Muir was just making a point about the fact that we are programmed to make a decision like yelling antisemitism. Think about it, we are told all our life that Government is good and it will take care of us. That our congressmen care about us and our wants and needs…
The issue here is “I think”. Nobody _really_ knows except Mr. Muir.
It’s odd that the story thus far _seems_ anti-semitic. As was pointed out, Naomi was Mossad, so there is _some_ sympathy.
I’m waiting and will certainly research any of the outlandish claims he has written here. HR.6090 is available online. It is NOT what his character claims to be, nor is the absurd claim that 25% of the military have dual Israeli citizenship.
The point is, why? It would have been easy to post something controversial and then resolve it, but he chose not to…
Is he provoking people on purpose? Nobody know except him…
I had a lot of respect for Candace Owens until she went off the deep end… maybe Mr. Muir wants to swim in the same pool…
The issue here, though unstated, is “I think”, See how that works?

One significant difference between the reflexive cry of antisemitism that has so often used by the (D)-friendly and liberal ADL, is the current wave of actual and violent antisemitic activity. The pro-Palestinian protests endemic to today’s “elite” universities such as Columbia and Harvard are unarguably antisemitic as well as anti American.
The threats to western culture (yep, I believe that western culture is demonstrably BETTER than others) comes from: Global Leftism – which can incorporate Christian, Jewish, and atheist adherents; Radical Islam, and; the pursuit of Chinese hegemony which retains some of the elements of leftism/communism.
Viewed though this perspective, I find that antisemitism is counter to western culture and the nation of Israel is an ally to western culture.

Trump has nothing to do with it.
HR 6090 did, however, reference President Trump’s 2019 Executive Order

just to keep our parallels straight…
Hum Chris gone for days, same panels repeated. Comes back, soon to go on what seems to be an un-Chris like anti Jew rant.
