After the whole War of the Roses thing, the English changed the rules to make sure that after Richard III, there would be no more Plantagenets able to make a claim to the throne.

Considering the grief they’ve suffered from all three Kings named Charles, it might be a good idea for them to make sure no King in the future is allowed to use “Charles” as his reign name.

    Just a suggestion.

Thing Charles 3rd should tread carefully. After all, King Charles 1st ended up executed by his own government so there is a precedent already.

And the second of his name was dispossessed by his own cousins. A “Glorious Revolution”, they called it.

        Treason by any other name…

        @Fox,

Those cousins got a bit impatient. All they really needed to do was wait a year or so for Charles2 to finish drinking himself to death.

Not much of a Jacobite, eh? Put a homicidal maniac like William of Orange on the throne, sure, but NEVER again any Stewart, never mind that Joe Wenzel is PRECISELY the kind of leader Britain desperately needs the most right now. Straight arrow trad Christian and absolutely loved by his community and by anyone who gets to know him. Let Charles and his kids seek the Russian throne instead, which they have the best claim of anyone. Philip should have been the Czar.

They should never have another King named Charles, or William,George, Henry or Edward; they’ve done wore them out.
They should bring back the old names, like Edgar, Aethelstan or Offa…

Yes, that’s how “King Arthur”‘s name actually would have been spelled “back in the day”.

Heh. If he was serious about joining, His MacLoud Chieftain’s blood would probably be driving him to scheme on behalf of Joe Wenzel. His mother was a granddaughter of the Clan Chief, for anyone interested to know. VIGOROUS Jacobites.
“We’ll join but you must put Canada under our jurisdiction, and you must abdicate to pursue the Russian throne. We’ll support you 100%”.
    A year later.
“Congratulations on becoming Czar, Chuck, but we’re overthrowing your son. Our new commonwealth does not tolerate religious discrimination, so my pal, Bonnie Joey will get to be King now. Scots and Germans unite!”
Seriously, this is much more probably a preliminary to renegotiate the “Five Eyes” Anglo-sphere alliance on new terms, but needs to butter him up after the Canadian miscalculation. He really should have waited until after the election to push the Tariffs on them.

Well, look at it from the positive side. The British Commonwealth would have a US style government rather quickly. We’re prickly about that. Such an event might clean up the even worse muck they have for a government than we have. Cleaning them up would shine a brighter light on our muck shaming us into an even more thorough cleanup.

On the other paw, I wonder how hard Trump was twisting the knife in poor little cover boy for MAD magazine Charlie.

      So true.
Too many don’t understand that “Butter Them Up” is the obverse side of the “Big Ask” coin.
All the people going ballistic over the put down of Zelenskyy, apparently even Zelenskyy himself, and even the lies on Putin’s behalf, is just a way to get Vlad The Invader to the table.
Remember, Vladimir Putin still wants to be Czar of the New Russian Empire and will do anything to get his way.
But for Trump EVERYTHING is negotiable.
Patience, it may take years to hash things out.
The big risk here is in Putin thinking he’s running out of time.

Of course the Bill of Rights is not something we have in common. 1st and 2nd amendments are something the Brits desperately need.

They won’t be much help with Canada, since the whole point of his 51st state thing was just to get our northern neighbors to grow TF up. England’s far worse off, and no good example at all these days.

Our newly unelected PM’s company is a quarter billion dollars in debt to the Bank of China, said debt beng taken on AFTER sockboy appointed him as chair of the ‘task force on economic growth’ and he refuses to put that holding in a ‘blind trust’ as required by law. he’s also under investigation in the US as an ‘unindicted co-conspirator’ for his part in trying to illegally take over a major energy producer and close it to push the ‘green’ companies he’s part owner in along with other WEF entities, said investigation beginning well before Trump took office.

This is what confuses his adversaries, they’re used to dealing with lawyers as politicians, not people who hire lawyers to get what they want and fire them when they don’t deliver on their promises.

You just don’t “get” Trump’s negotiation style. Read his book.
One tactic is to lavish praise and flattery upon your adversary in public; bleed him dry in private. End result: You get what you really want in negotiations.

Notice how Trump said “IF Charles offers it…” he can’t offer that because the US isn’t a Commonwealth country, but the msm and dems don’t know that, or don’t care and are trusting that nobody else does either…the same way they trust that nobody knows what a tariff really is other than ‘Trump is talking about them so they must be bad’. They desal in half-truths, rumours, innuendo and barefaced lies and always have. If any msm outlet ever ran a story using only verifiable facts presented calmly and clearly without deliberate misdirection, hysteria and panic inducing hyperbole, they’d be out of business the next day and they know it.
