Indeed, I tested the Stinger in a Berretta 21 and got similar velocity to standard 22LR high velocity out of a rifle, and that is plenty effective out to 300yd+. Defensive distances, no problem, just hit accurately.
The only major issue with .22 LR in any box-magazine fed self-loader (and I include rifles) is feed reliability. I’ve yet to find one, rifle or pistol, I’d trust not to jam in an IA.
My choice for a .22 LR defensive sidearm? A compact DA revolver.
For a rifle, a lever, bolt, or pump-action repeater with a tubular magazine.
Neither one cares much about the exact pressure level of the ammunition, the fact that ‘s rimmed, bullet shape, etc. You pull the trigger, they go BANG.

Since I live in California, and since the idiots in Sacramento think we should trust them implicitly with our well being and safety, the list of available conceal carry weapons is almost nil.
The micro-stamping which is required here is a non-existent technology. Hopefully the New Supreme Court coming in will stomp on the prog/libs and outlaw these crap laws.
