But computers think logically. How long could Jo impersonate Stelter and be immersed in leftspeak groupthink before finally snapping and “laying off” the CNN newsroom?
Ah, hopefully they’ll accept it’s the lefties who are so illogically inconsistent. Right now they’re yelling at poor old Gov Northam for saying he was only wearing blackface when impersonating Michael Jackson, yet they continue to refuse to acknowledge Jackson identified as Caucasian and later transitioned to white. You’d think Progressives could embrace their own beliefs and get past their unreasoning transracial phobia.

Yeah, but the karma smack he’s getting is quite entertaining.
Remember he painted his opposition with this very same brush.

Kadaka, you expect logic from people who can’t even tie their own shoes? You dreamer, you!

Not so fast on the humans are virii meme. Conciseness that surpasses us will also question what we have up our sleeves. This bit of paranoia is just as likely to keep it in check so we don’t discover it’s ulterior motives… and will still have to wonder if we are not running it in a simulation to check it’s loyalty.

Ahh! the endless discussion. Paranoia is usually overwhelming fear that leads to mistrust of people, things, whatever.
We usually associate it with people convinced by their logic that someone (everyone some times) is out to “get” them. Simplistic, but this IS an endless subject. Anyway, supposed 1/0 “thought” Should not consider we are unreasonable in the first place.
If it could consider ulterior motive and our other mental dilemmas, It would then be just as goofy as us and could it then still be “artificial” ?
I’m Out.
Well I’m pretty sure PG is onto something with the simulation speculation, shit that’s going on in purported meatspace these days just cannot be real. So yeah, AI might have already won and we may all have been converted to electronic. Beats reality under the Beast I guess.

Loved ‘Wild Palms’. It was supposed to have taken place in 2017, but actual real-world events are just as weird. ‘Everything must go!’

Masterful Chris, just masterful. And you told us everything we needed to know on January 27th.
Somewhere John Huston, Dashiell Hammett (Maltese Falcon), Michael Curtis, and the Epstein twins (Casablanca) are watching with a mixture of approval and envy.
Hint: Sam’s comment of “I won’t leave Samuel! I won’t –”
Hint: Suzy’s comment of Gentleman, no search.” (Jan 30)
Hint: The extremely detached way that Zed studies Jo (as Sam) on Feb 1 and 2, including “So wrong. You dressed like that.” He is not distracted by any of Jo’s antics or comments, he is a professional on a mission.
Like any great story (a Sherlock Holmes story would work as well for an example), Chris laid it all out there before us, but we (or at least, I) couldn’t see it until the very end.
Up until they shot the final scene of Casablanca, Ingrid Bergman, playing Ilsa Lund, did not know if she would end up with Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart) or her husband, Victor Laszlo (Paul Henreid). However, once you’ve seen the movie, Rick Blaine would not be Rick Blaine if he did not send Ilsa to be with her husband.
No, that was me by videophone. And from that viewpoint, it was totally right!
“There were two endings written. I have a copy of the script. ”
Just a decoy for all you mortals. According to CM, only I had advance intel…and dazzled by Jo/Sam’s parts in closeup I still lost track. Funny how that works on us YX types. :I
In the Feb 1 and 2 comics, you can tell that Jo (as Sam) is still having difficulty that “three decimal places” was insufficient accuracy for her to effectively decoy Zed from Sam. Jo’s comment at the time of “My ass!” is still ringing in her own ears.
Can’t wait for the next episode in this story arc, where Jo/Seltzer (nuttin’ but carbonation) meets more people, touches them, and absorbs the ability to mimic them. This could be fun.
A real plot twist would be if Jo infiltrates the CNN machinery and starts pumping out REAL news instead of Orange Man Bad.
Then Ted Koppel’s prediction will come true, their ratings will go down the toilet.
I didn’t figure Zed would willingly expose Sam to that kind of raid… anticipated the Jo substitute. I thought Zed would “vanish” using old skills. I didn’t anticipate the interrogation scenario. So much awesome.
Why break the glass when Jo can ooze through cracks? That’d be good for mind games, jailor checks prisoner and finds empty clothing and cuffs, goes to sound the alarm, people rush in and prisoner says “Waz up?”

Old Codger
Two questions
1. Won’t the nitwit numbnuts on the other side of the mirror notice that “Sam’s” breath isn’t fogging the mirror and get suspicions?
2. How does Jo being able to look/sound like the CNN guy help our guys infiltrate Hildamort’s Stasi if she doesn’t also know what he knows?
1. If Jo’s breath is cold enough to chill the glass there’ll be condensation from the humidity in the room.
2. Besides the password for the current JournoList so they get advanced warning, which could be gotten as Jo pretends to be a chair in his office as Stelter logs in for his marching orders, access to his computer gives Jo traceable info on leaks from government sources (American and otherwise) and “suggestions” from non-government democracy disruptors (American and otherwise).

The AI problem. They would quickly conclude we are a “virus”. Welcome to Skynet.
Course, wiping out cnn would be a good start.

Step in the right direction, NEXT.
Well now I’m dazed and confused.
I think it was that butt what done it.
Ah well, good a thing as any for my last human memory, decidedly not cold metal.
Let the artificials on both sides sort out the rest.
“for my last human memory”
Are you converting to electronic? That’s been mentioned for years from the Wild Palms miniseries and the original Ghost in the Shell manga.

You can almost hear Zed saying: “Suzy, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.”
Okay, now I’m just lost and confused. I am not worthy.

me either.

The best part is that the “new and improved “ Brian Stelter (aka Jo) will finally get his makeup applied correctly.
Can’t wait for the next episode in this story arc, where Jo/Seltzer (nuttin’ but carbonation) meets more people, touches them, and absorbs the ability to mimic them. This could be fun.
Not just Fake News but a fake CNN as well?
Keep grooming, Jo/Sam. Isn’t that what one way mirrors are for?
The possibilities for Jo to screw with her captors are many, varied and splendiferous.
It’s also the exact same thing Sam did when they were apprehended after the Boston bombing.
That’s the reference to how much data was accumulated in her scan/copy of Sam.
Jo could be the best “deep fake” so far.
A real plot twist would be if Jo infiltrates the CNN machinery and starts pumping out REAL news instead of Orange Man Bad.
Then Ted Koppel’s prediction will come true, their ratings will go down the toilet.
It’s going to be interesting when “Sam” has to ask the feds for a breast pump. 48 hours is too long a time to go between expressing.
She (Jo) might be capable of secreting a neurotoxin or phychotropic substance re-engineered from the food she “consumes”
I was thinking more like she’s preloaded with a nonperishable look-alike.
“Huh, this tastes like coffee creamer.”
“Dude… No.”
Now *that* I did not see coming! Great fun, Chris!
Speaking of………, where’s Zed? Hopefully he, too, will be released in 48 hours.
At this point, can there be any doubt that Zed has begun, um, speculating about what an, um, amorous evening with Sam + Sam would be like…?
chillly
Intervention,
You own this thread. I got nothin.
We might need more data on that scenario…preferably of the visual kind.
Are there ruby red slippers somewhere in the mix with preloaded coordinates for the return trip home?
I want a video of the jailer who watches Jo walk through the bars.
Then of his interrogation by his superiors.
I didn’t figure Zed would willingly expose Sam to that kind of raid… anticipated the Jo substitute. I thought Zed would “vanish” using old skills. I didn’t anticipate the interrogation scenario. So much awesome.
Let me just say that overhead shot is awesomely done, and strangely sexy as hell.
That ain’t easy to accomplish that visual depth in 2D, good job CM!
Chris can reuse the art for the “Pounce of the 50 Foot Conservative” poster.
just how fragile is the glass in that mirror?
Not very I would think. Prisoners are sometimes quite violent.
Not that it would slow Jo down.
Why break the glass when Jo can ooze through cracks? That’d be good for mind games, jailor checks prisoner and finds empty clothing and cuffs, goes to sound the alarm, people rush in and prisoner says “Waz up?”
