Our biological drive to Game the System is both the reason for our successes and our failures, our triumphs and our sins and is in the process of being massively amplified by our collective desires.
The Framers understood the need for all the “needless complications” they built into the Constitution. They recognized the existence of Human Nature and tried to act accordingly, but it took Charles Darwin to explain its origin and motivation and for that he was summarily ignored by both the political Right and Left. Separate topic: Might’ve missed in comments but whatever happened to Holy Tera project? Off to the side for a bit, or decided not to go that direction?
I’m about at 4 months content produced so far, but still tweaking it a bit. I am hoping to finally release it at http://www.holytera.com September-October this year.
It was my impression that a stunt hollow body double was used for that scene.

ULTRA-MAGA TOP DAWG JTC
And that the whole accidental destruction of a 40K antique was PR for the movie, pretty effective if so.
To bolster that story supposedly a crossover collector of music/movie memorabilia offered more than that estimated value of the artifact for the wreckage and pieces of it, with no takers.

For Several Months I’ve had this song in my head. Thank you for the new lyrics.
Playing up collectible industry scuttlebutt. Yes she not so much feigned, but is a talented actress (loved her talents as Stacy 😉 ).
And the conspiracy brings Martin in too as they got yuge PR and renewed interest from people that don’t know shit about music but all about expensive stuff, I sold a lot of Rolexes etc over the years to people like that.
Not pushing the narrative, just relating the industry internals wherein guitars are just a category among others like sports memorabilia, cars, coins, cards, purses believe it or not, and the aforementioned watches, and gambits to jack up values happen all the time, sometimes by design and sometimes just serendipity as with Cobain’s million dollar axe. Always remember the BC caveman pawnbroker who was asked “what gives things value?” To which he responds “Rarity.” Yep. All of that stuff including wrecked guitars, have real or more importantly perceived value, based on their real or more importantly perceived rarity.
And I do love a good conspiracy tale that actually works, in this case jacking up interest, name recognition, and most important of course, perceived value and demand. We can discuss the Gaston Glock story at some future point maybe, in his case more a matter of marketing brilliance and manipulation of intellectual lessers actually.
Come to think of it, I would lay down a good bit of virtual cash for that virtual smashed guitar here in the barn, fully signed by both Reds of course.
Oh, and the fire at the. Carus plant in LaSalle, IL on January 11, wiped out the sole U.S. producer of potassium permaganate and sodium permaganate used in municipal water treatment plants. At least 90 days before they get anything back on line.

Well played.
Hallelujah.
Man that barn is a magical venue; just consider some of the activities that have been hosted there…
JTC,
Ahem, now that Kiko and Mari are adults, and Mia is there, and Travis is still the Maestro of ‘Q perhaps they need to reopen the DoubleD Club.
Loved my visit to the DoubleDown back then. Just can’t even imagine that sweet petite Mari done up like Skye was serving me Dewars and a view…
And combining that Double Down atmosphere with the awesomeness of the DDQ, Redbeard Style?
On my way. 🙂
Sam,
Why destroy the guitar?
Record the song and blast it through the streets of Gunpowder, Texas, and the nation.
Brilliant lyrics, Chris.
Thanks you, Barbara!
Animal House reference…:)
Shoulda had Travis and Mia sitting on a staircase…
Got it – lovedit.
Props to Sen. Bluto Blutarski. Attaguy.
AND Star Trek TNG reference!
Chris:
I never use the term “brilliant”.
Except for this piece.
More words simply fail.
🙂
Yes, stands next to the statue of Al Gore on the frozen wasteland, engraved with Ozymandias.
Another poem of loss –
Leonard Cohen – Hallelujah (Live In London)
My immediate thought and comment at the top…
We can go back a little further, then – The Partisan – Leonard Cohen
Or forward a bit for the dark and prophetic The Future.
Deep and multi-faceted guy.
Musta triggered someone . . .
Sam the Head Coucilwoman of Gunpowder in her pink VAG channeling Senator John Blutarski in his white convertible.
I like it!
Does this mean Chris is going to treat us to a Toga Party?
Toga! Toga! Toga! Toga! Toga! Toga!…………..
Thanks to Chris’s artistry, it’s would appear that Zed did give Sam the high, hard, one she craved last night.
‘The Riddle Song’ would have been too on the nose.
Destined to be a classic.
Did I just here our Alt-National-Anthem? Amazing, thanks Chris !
Is ‘spell checker’ a commie plot?
Wondering. Resident or president?

So do NOT despair, we WILL prevail.
irongranpa,
AMEN!

Just epic.

Yeah … everybody knows.
So … why does everybody still vote for Democrats and RINOs?!?
A great, indicting song by Leonard Cohen … Chris Muir’s updated revision cranks it to a new level.
Bravo Zulu.

“So … why does everybody still vote for Democrats and RINOs?!?”
They don’t. Hence the historic MAGA tsunamis of 2020 and 2022. Minus the rigging, stealing and coast-to-coast voter fraud, of course.
As Cohen aged, his voice keep getting deeper… laden with gravitas…
Well done, Chris and the Animal House reference wasn’t lost on me!!
Please tell me that Sam didn’t destroy a limited edition guitar Tucker was playing…

Or a priceless 150 year old Martin like the one Kurt Russell smashed to bits on the set of The Hateful Eight.
Alec Baldwin wasn’t involved, but Harvey Weinstein was…

Nope, it was the real thing. Jennifer Jason Leigh’s horror was unfeigned.

Completely off topic, except that it’s devastating and the world has little resiliency left to deal with it:
A 7.8 magnitude earthquake just hit in a densely populated area of southern Turkey.
