As I mentioned the other day, the dream sequence thing (that I called a soap opera gambit) would surely be easier on our hearts, but also is a serious BS manipulation of our concern for and involvement with the characters.
I must admit to taking a break from the last three episodes until today. For good reason, evidently. Before going back to those missed strips, I put 3 fingers of 15-yr single-malt into a glass and prepared for the worst. The shocks came easier when read that way. It was not as bad as I expected, nor as good as I’d hoped. Max support for Kiko and the little one…and may God forever curse the influx of illegal alien invaders crossing our borders — North, South, East, and West.
Of course when Zed gets through with him he’ll be thinking she’s Mother Teresa. And speaking of mothers, regardless of Zed’s urging, it’s a sure thing that Sam is not going to leave that bedside until Kiko walks out of there. And I’m thinking Mari is gonna be there too.

Yes, night is the time to get things done. And any thing that comes in the night to do that girl is going to get it. If it’s lucky, Zed will be pressed for time, and something will go “bang” in the night. If the tactical situation allows otherwise? Well, lots of sharps sitting around an ICU, not to mention all the off-book uses for the contents of a crash cart.

30-something years ago I managed a towing and recovery service in south central Tennessee. We responded to many serious injury and/or fatal crashes, and the tough part was having to stand by while the EMT’s and fire and rescue people did their thing. That was long before the illegal invasion kicked into high gear- – – -I can’t imagine what first responders have to deal with now, but I’m glad they’re willing to step up and do their jobs!

A better “damn barrier” then a physical gate or fence, would be:
1- a warning sign (facing south) in Mexican, “you are crossing here illegally. turn around. go back home”.
2- next, a shot “across the bow”. See if the illegals are intelligent enough to take a hint.
3- final warning, shots into the crowd. And since most of these illegal invaders are young military age males, I have NO compunction against seeing piles of bodies just inside the border.
There’s a meme I’ve been seeing that says this well;

“Well, now his friends have been warned, haven’t they?”

Years ago, the Houston area news would cover drunk driving fatalities, including the startling number of them caused by illegals. The reports went so far as authorities tracking the perps to sanctuary cities, where it was hoped the locals would assist the investigation.
That coverage all dried up, it’s never spoken of now. No idea why /s
Local TV news is performed entirely for women 25-54. That’s the big market for them. Plus, most TV stations are owned by corporations that are “advised” by Black Rock and Vanguard to make sure their coverage is appropriate and diverse.
I mean, if you watched local TV news and read the Star Tribune, you might think crime in Minneapolis is getting better, instead of getting much worse quickly.
My nephew was one of the victims of those undocumented Houston drivers back then. He had extensive injuries and his car was totaled, but of course the driver had no license, no registration, and no insurance. Just to finish off the sequence, add “no consequences.”

The law needs to be enforced in all 0 states plus additional territories.
The border is now everywhere. The expulsions should be enforced everywhere and the existing circumstance should no longer force state law enforcement to not enforce immigration laws. Many reasons for that.
These type of criminal acts have personally effected and appalled me for decades.
A couple of years ago a small community on the county line asked the sheriff to please patrol more as the number of speeders, crashes, and suspected drunks were making life a living hell. The sheriff complied and after two weeks the citizens of this small community demanded that increased patrols be stopped because the deputies were stopping and citing too many illegals guilty of the speeding, crashes, and DUIs. Turns out most of the community are indeed still wet from swimming the Rio Grande.
There are many communities in the Southwest that have family ties reaching back to the early Spanish Culture and to the people and cultures living there before the Spanish that do not want the Mexicans, and others coming in these days, in their communities. Many use the term for them that President Eisenhower used to name the removal and repatriation effort that he ordered in the 1950’s.
No disrespect intended. Only removal. And of all not legally in our nation including their children born here.
They understand the invaders very well.
