Drew, that’s why my house is ‘dumb’. No ‘smart’ appliances, no Ring doorbell, no NEST thermostats, no surveillance cameras, no Siri, no Alexa, no Cortana, microphones on laptops and tablets disabled (physically disconnected, not just shut off via settings), webcams disconnected from computers unless being used, integrated cameras on laptops and tablets covered unless being used.
Am I being paranoid? Yup. Knowing what I know about technology, the question is “Am I being paranoid enough?”
If I could find a way to sanitize my phone, leave it blind and deaf but still be able to act as a phone – I can’t be out of touch as I have an elderly parent I am taking care of – I would do that.
Same in my home. Nothing “Smart” except the Owners.
I wonder if you had a box with some of the Go Dark faraday material wrapped around it leaving the top of the box open…

Pamela, I do have a ‘Faraday’ bag for those times when I go dark – phone shut off and put into the bag – and the phone put well out of earshot. (Just because a phone is off doesn’t mean the phone is ‘off’.)

Anyways, one of the baddies was “Master-Blaster” … a genius dwarf “Master” who rode on the shoulders of the hulking embecile “Blaster” barking orders throughout the underworld in the post apocalyptic Barter Town.
With Joe and his ChiCom masters … it seems that Xie is “Master” while the embecile and decrepit Joe is just a walking disaster
Master-Disaster … that sums up Xie and Joe. Aren’t they quite the pair?
