An engineer would know better than most the effect of a tiny fast projectile (say a .22lr) entering a small enclosed cavity (say a skull) through a vulnerable port (say an ear, temple, above back of neck) at upcloseandpersonal range. No exit usually, just some rattling and scambling of contents, if any. Explaining why it is the weapon of choice for hitmen immemorial. Talk about efficiency, no mess.
But yeah, it’s a BUG as explained in my old linked piece.
The first rule of projectile power is the same as the first rule of traffic safety;
Speed Kills.

Agree re projectiles. Take major exception to traffic. If traffic speed kills, the mortality rate at Indy – or any NASCAR EVENT – would be 100%. In traffic, it is speed DIFFERENTIAL that kills. Similarly, when falling off a tall building it’s not the fall that’s the problem — it’s that sudden stop at the bottom that does the damage.

I figure a little overkill is just right. In close quarters and with mini guns. I can empty the little Ruger 22 mag so it looks like the target got hit with 000 buck real fast and accurate, Close in, I like it better than heavy metal and is much more concealable.
I was just thinking of that; Jubal Harshaw, Minerva, and Woodrow at the pool. But I’m still trying to remember the book……Number of the Beast? No, that one’s not it.
You can use a rubber band to get the same effect, you know. Why would you pay a fat price for something that can be replaced for about $.01 by a heavy duty rubber band????
Economics, my dear fellow! Economy of Style!
I’ll be you never make pancakes from scratch, either. 🙂
It was a favorite of Modesty Blaise. She kept a small .32 automatic there, and aimed between the eyes. See “A Taste For Death”.

It would be fun to try and find out where Sam is holding her guns………until you woke up the next day with all the bruises, a few broken bones, and in the hospital.
Don’t get to wrapped up with what you own rather than what you can do with what you own. Too many people brag about how many rounds they possess but they never would think about actually using it to practice. Compete and find out how good you are. It’s a reality check.
Yeah, that would take some getting used to. I’m hoping that 20/650 was correctable with glasses.
Mine are 20/600+ in the left and 20/1000+ in the right, with astigmatisms, but glasses have been correcting things nicely for over 50 years now. Though now I use cheaters over the normal glasses for computer screens.

L’Envoi chapter, Number of the Beast. Far as I can figure it, she makes her handguns disappear with Athene’s help, somehow. See also: Allucquere, gorgeous naked red-head who nevertheless manages to hide 3 guns on/in her….?
Mom was a “flapper” girl, and loved to jitterbug. One evening in 1943, when she and Dad were out for the evening in Las Vegas with friends, she was jitterbugging with their friend and Dad was dancing with the friend’s wife. Her thigh holster came loose and her Browning Hi Power went skittering across the floor. Her partner scooped it up and they finished the dance. When they returned to the table, he laid the pistol on the table in front of her and told her to put it in her purse “Where most women carry their safety.” He was a United States Marshal.
Would love to make my annual contribution. Now where the [bleep, censored] is the url to do so? Most people soliciting $ try to make this simple. I’m an annual giver. Your product is worth supporting but…

If Sam was wearing a bikini, how small does the gun have to be?
(I’ll let you guys figure that one out.)
There are some pretty small firearms out there. NAA mini revolvers for example.

JT~ I didn’t know you liked cute guns…
Oh yes ma’am; I’m old but I ain’t d…
Oh, you meant little shootin’ irons… 😉
Might have to do some measurements and calculations in person for that one. 😀
Ask Lazarus Long where Minerva keeps her heat when she goes swimming. (She ain’t tellin’ and she DON’T where no bikini!)
Zar Belk!
Exactly.
An NAA Pug in .22 WMR HP would be a rather concealable option.
Of course y’all realize Sam, se an engineer, aintpacking any caliber smaller than .380. It’s just not EFFICIENT….
A .22LR hollow point with an X cut with a knife or razor goes in small and requires major effort to stop the bleeding at the exit point — WWII OSS.

Where there’s a will, and all that..
The Purloined Letter method? If anyone knows how Minerva changed her handguns into chocolate bars, I’m all ears.

Yes, it is. The last chapter.

I would that would be Stranger In A Strange Land (with Jubal in it)
I was thinking the same….
Jubal meets Lazarus – and a passel of other Heinlein characters – in the last chapter of Number of the Beast.
Stranger In A Strange Land
Grok?
Did they change? Or were they just “exchanged”?

As I recall, there was a theory floated that involved Valentine Michael Smith.
American’s are tougher then you think, as the CommuNazis in Jew Jersey and Massachusetts are discovering.

I use the thick purple ones from the carrots to hold back my hair.
Del~ scratch made pancakes with cooked crumbled bacon and diced apples in the batter and Real Maple syrup.
Pamela – Oh, yeah!!! And lots of real butter, because butter is better – always.
I put the maple syrup right into the batter. Best pancakes ever.
Really cool holster for the ladies.

I had never seen the “under boobs holster”
Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I’m conflicted….

True that!
My Doc said I have to wait to try out my new eye at the range until the end of June. Going from 20/650 to 20/20 was a bit strange.

Sam carrying?
My guess would be a compact H&K Self Cocker in a soft calf leather holster nestled inside her left thigh,
Back up would be a flat Colt Hammerless Auto in the small of her back…
Just off the top of my head, of course.
Is it wrong that I would love to search her?
Can you outrun Tabasco if you do…

June 4th is when it starts.:)
Chris,
Are you doing separate fundraisers for DBD & RVL76? Or is this one covering both?
There’s only one annual fundraiser, and that’s for DBD! Redvolution’s simply a stepchild of DBD.
Not a red~headed stepchild I hope…
Thank you, Chris!
And, Pam? ROFL 🙂
