You could ice every one even minimally in the public eye, and more would take their places. The leadership is buried so deep, I doubt they have a public face at all.

And unlike the former, as we have said many times, if the latter should find a way to slip into the big chair in ’24, I don’t know if we can even recover our Republic by starting it over with the power and draw that monster does and would have, even over “our” own people. Their reasoning is that if ‘mikey’ manages to lose a more thoroughly rigged election than the last one, then the hue and cry of ‘white supremacist intolerance toward a ‘womyn’ of colour’ will be the cover for massive inauguration day riots, real ones this time, and probably a good old fashioned political assassination, assuming Trump screws up in choosing his VP again and picks one who turns out to be more beholden to power than the people, as pence has shown he was.
If Mike is on the ticket it wins; no issues of election loss and no need to rig it.
With their 49% 100% in the tank and our 51% 50% add in, it cannot lose.

The _really_ bad news: there isn’t anyone at the top. It’s a mass of bureaucrats and party functionaries all pulling each others strings whichever way they think will protect their phony baloney jobs and enhance their importance, and not one of them even capable of thinking about the end result.
