I’m pretty sure that if he were alive today, Adm. Yamamoto Isoruku would say that like the battleship, the aircraft carrier is about as useful in a naval battle as a katana.
Even disregarding drones, the old bubblehead saying still holds true;
That reminds me of that one Godzilla movie where he took a Mk 48 ADCAP square in his scaly ass and laughed it off.
Right… I don’t care what that critter was made of; he woulda been turned into a rapidly expanding sphere of Pink Steam…

Cavitation trail on FLIR, turning to intercept, MAD MARK !!! Dropping torpedoes.
Subs don’t have reliable anti-aircraft and they make good targets.
I’ve been onboard for international detect/kill competitions and the fastest I saw us do (and the fastest anyone saw anyone do) was just under six minutes from area entry to target confirmation and weapons drop. ๐
I could never tell any of the multitude of cheby models apart.
But, I could and did make Goats get up a really run. They just had to be allowed to “breathe”.
I thought the story was that there was foliage on the fence that obscured him. That would mean that the USSS agent was firing at the bushes without really knowing where his target was, which is wrong and dangerous, but would certainly account for all the misses.
If this ‘drone situation’ occurred shortly after 9/11… what would have been the response? Besides โ ‘Somebody did something’, which is the response so far now.
Mothership would be a reef, international waters or not.
They are flying into US Airspace and controlled airspace at that.
Causa Belli right there.
No warning needed.
Sleep with fishies.
In New Jersey, he may have to use a bow and arrow.

So the SS agent, who supposedly foiled Trump’s second assassination attempt, fired ‘about’ six shots from a range of about five feet..and missed ALL of them ??
And they need a ‘ballistics investigation’ to figure out exactly how many ?
Here’s your investigation:
A How many rounds was the agent issued ?
B How many rounds did he have left ?
C How many empty casings were recovered ?
D Have a five year old do the math for you
E Were all empty casing of the type issued ?
F Report ends here
For me, in the event of an ‘Officer shooting’, even for a warning shot or despatching an injured animal, once the situation was complete we were supposed to immediately seal the firearm used and all remaining ammunition issued, plus all empty casings not requiring to remain in situ for forensics, in an evidence bag which would be carefully monitored by senior management to ensure the chain of custody wasn’t breached. So simple a gov’t employee could do it.
The agent first noticed the suspect, later identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, and then noticed the barrel of Routhโs gun sticking through the fence line. The special agent, who may have been as close as five feet away from Routh, immediately responded by firing shots toward the suspect. It is believed six shots in total were fired; however, final ballistics are pending an ongoing FBI investigation.
Crazy, isn’t it? Six shots at that range and not a single hit!!
Remember the initial reporting about this “sharp eyed Secret Service Agent” and all the noise about how this “restored confidence” etc. Yeah, not so much.

So I’m not the only one dirty minded individual who giggles whenever someone says “Top down, bottom up”? Good to know.

To a submariner, everything else is a target.

” Mark target, designate Sierra 1, On Fire Control, Flood forward tubes, Mkm48 ADCAP, Live Warshot”. Yep, Eon, so true.

VRROOOMM or Baadda-Boom? ๐
I think that`s a Nova, SS, maybe
a Chevelle, anyway I was a Ford
guy, til I got my Grand Nat`l.
Nova looks to be somewhere from 68 to early 70’s. At my age memory gets rusty.

Torque AND thrust. Kinda musical.
Nothin could be finer than pull a 69er in the mornin!
The Morning Song [ADULT]
Nothing could be finer
Than to be in your vagina
In the morrrrrrrrrning
Nothing could be sweeter
Than your lips around my peter
In the morrrrrrrning
Where my morning Glory
Swirl around the floor
Whisper a sexy story
I’d like to feel once more
Stroking on my girlie
Her dew is hot and pearly
Early in the morning
Our eyes all a-flutter
We awake and kiss each other
at dawwwwwwwwwning
If I had a magic lamp for one day
I’d wish a wish and here’s what I’d say
Nothing could be finer than to be in your vagina
IN THE MORRRRRRRRRRNING
No amount of ‘range time’ will help this joker:

So much for the “sharp-eyed Secret Service agent saves Pres Trump” story.

Anyone else find the whole “Iranian Drone Mothership sitting in international waters” concept laughable? Too silly for even a Marvel movie plot?

Eventually some country boy will shoot one down and wait to see who comes looking for it.
