I had one of each. No regrets… although I wish I’d dumped the wife far earlier as her influence was consistently pernicious, to the kids and even more so to me. Life got much easier once her poison was gone.
Two daughters, hurricanes, Maria Isabel and Camille, and one son, and Lord knows I earned a Ph.D. in diplomacy…and disaster management. Wonderful grandchildren are the reward.
Another someone also said: If my first child had been like my second, there wouldn’t have been a second!

Raised by a divorced, never re-married mother with a totally out-of-the-picture father. I had four older sisters and no brothers. It was all training. I got married and had two daughters, no sons. Both graduated early at the top of their classes. Oldest had her Masters in History at twenty-two. They got plenty of love and discipline. Plenty of emotional drama, Other than that they were a breeze to raise.
“If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life, never make a pretty woman your wife. So my personal point of view, is get an ugly woman to marry you.”
Yeah I paid about as much attention to that advice as Zed and Javier. My version is “It ain’t always easy with a smokin’ hot wife but you’ll have a smile on your face for the rest of your life.“
as a father of 2 daughters i understand, the oldest one blossomed early and was packing her mothers 38C BOOMERS at 14. i chased many a sniz hounds off in my day.
i was known as the crazy father with all the guns by the guys at the local high school.
Oh, yes. But then, politeness is more or less the norm in our circles. As you might imagine.
Her brother’s the best marksman of the family, but the girl will cheerfully learn to use anything involving blades or fire. And yeah, good with maintenance, rolling charges, safety, etc. Couldn’t be prouder.

Had only one kid … a daughter. Strong headed, but I must have done something right. She turned out way better than I thought she would.
Looking forward to sugaring up the grandkids and handing them back!
My daughter was taken from me at three and a half, and deliberately prevented much access for 13 years, until one day, she realized that I wasn’t as bad as her mother let on about, not to mention her mothers continuing adulterous behavior.
Now we’re Good! She’s good, and I’ll say she’ll never go and act like her mother.
Sounds more like RAH than Clancy, but I don’t remember the quote from either source… there’s a lot of new stuff by Tom Clancy (and his ghost writer) that I haven’t read yet.
Got Elon’s attention too; can’t believe he let BD go to the SoKo’s but I’m sure he’s got his reasons…or a plan, might be bipedal bots at the ranch real soon, no telling what Javier would do with them.

Ya know Javier is going to need separate training.
just what kind of weapons are we talking about here?
Massive ones.
“Daughters only obey fathers,” more wisdom from Zed/Chris.
“Give me a double….” Every father who has raised daughters knows just what Zed means.
“You can’t scare me, I have two daughters.”
How about four daughters.
Automatic sainthood… or is it martyrdom?
Sainthood usually comes after martyrdom.
There are four of us. No wonder Dad spent so much time on deployment.
Mine didn’t. Come to think of it neither did her brother – least not very well. 😉
“You can’t scare me, I have two daughters.”
Zed’s got one up on that:
“You can’t scare me, I have twin daughters.”
What a pain raising daughters. Sons too.
And I would give anything to go back and do it again.

Yep. Sons was bad enough. And we found women to take them. No warranty, however, and no returns allowed.
“Weapons” training….Boy, bowdy!
Daughters – All Drama, All Day
Raised a daughter.
I had nerves of steel and an iron disposition. Ruled the homestead with determination. She turned out Great!
Basically, I ignored the hysterics, emotions and shouting. Threw chocolate when things got too loud and went to moves while it took affect.
What weapons, indeed?
“Double your pleasure,
Double your fun………”
Raised two daughters….one was tough, a good sense of humor, with a head for business and common sense….the other….well, she’s my daughter, too….

What was it Jimmy Soul said in that song?

You say that like it’s a bad thing….
I threaten no one. They all know who and what I am.
That my girl loves her Dad, is sweet and protective, and is handy with sword, cannon, flamethrower, and sundry other toys might have been a clue.
Yes. A proper education is always an excellent way to prepare ant child.
Especially if they know how to fix equipment.
Sword, cannon, flamethrower and “other”?
Shit, never mind you, them boys new for sure what she was/is…bet they were polite as hell!

Little girls are pretty, but I like Oreos…….
Sounds kinda like the Engineering Major and the Talking Frog…
The “joys” of having girls…when you remember what you were like when you were younger (and haven’t changed).

Was it in one of Tom Clancy’s novels, where someone observed that daughters are God’s revenge on a man for the way he thought when he was younger?

This is freaking awesome, with soundtrack from one of my favorite movies…
