Not a GD fucking thing! Stay home!

    “and ensure success?”
Who’s success? In what? Define “success”.
If it’s anything like socialism or communism, then your idea of “success” is upside down bizarro world trickle up poverty totalitarianism.

Yeah, success like in the old Soviet Union:

“Comrade, I have good news! We are increasing the chocolate ration for everyone!”

“Really. That is indeed good news!”

“Yes, we will be increasing it from 30 grams per week to 20 grams per week!”

I was watching a video of “1984” and in the background you can hear a somber announcement of a cut in the chocolate ration in support of the War with Eurasia. Sometime later, there is a jubilant announcement of an increase in the chocolate ration. But if you do the math, you find that overall the ration has still been cut by at least 10%.

The stores re doing that now, jacking the prices way up then announcing a big ‘roll back’ to more than they were before or putting them on sale at a higher price than before.

It’s like the paid for media announcing proudly that ‘the gov’t has decreased inflation substantially !!’ the price of everything still went up, just not as much as a month ago but still ten times what it was three years ago.

That’s not new. I remember a reprinted article from Mad Magazine in the 1950’s about the new suburban shopping centers. One sequence was something like:

Clerk: People aren’t buying this for $1.99.
Store Manager: Change the price to $4.99 and put it on sale at $2.97.

It was true then, and is still true. There are almost always real bargains, but you have to look for them, while remembering the original price and ignoring the hype. That’s how the store sells to smart people at a small profit, while taking advantage of the gullible and careless to make a bigger profit. One pays enough markup to keep the store open, and the other enough to make a profit from building the store.

Hey, like other refugees from communism, some of us fled the blue states because they used to be … you know … NORMAL and then rolled hard left. We know what went wrong, why, and are determined not to see a repetition. So while I understand the temptation, realize we aren’t all coming with the same attitudes.

Reprinted for truth…”The new socialists say it’s different this time. They have a new name and everything: “Democratic Socialism.” Sure, Democratic Socialists take pains to disassociate themselves from the past failures. The Young Democratic Socialists of America website devotes a whole section to why that doesn’t discredit their economic model. The second-most famous Democratic Socialist in America right now, after kingmaker Democratic Socialist Bernie Sanders, is New York City congressman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who does her best to explain the snake oil: It’s “the basic belief” that “in a moral and wealthy America . . . no person should be too poor to live in this country.” Note the word “wealthy.” How exactly does she think the US got that way? It certainly wasn’t because of socialistic transfers from wealth producers to wealth consumers. In fact, whatever funds are shifted are available only because some Americans are motivated to produce wealth in the first place. Their new version just isn’t much different from those that formed the basis for past failures, as all have as their primary tenet: “from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.”

Fact is, “socialism” only works when it’s paid for by capitalism. Nothing Democratic about that.

Socialism is a form of insanity, much as Einstein defined it:

“Doing the same thing over and over, but expecting different results this time.”

Or as we put it up here in northern New England, “If you always do what you’ve always done, you always get what you’ve always got.”

The present day socialists are no different…it’s just that they are dumber and even less well educated than those who have gone before them.

Oh, they’ve got high self-esteem in abundance. Some such as cough*Soros*cough have it because they like the destruction and human suffering they’ve caused. Some feel that the personal power they’ve grabbed is worth any price, and some truly believe that the ‘Pie In The Sky’ will come when their beloved programs have been in force long enough.
None of these can be swayed by history or today’s facts.

As someone who was repeatedly beaten within an inch of his life by bullies in K-12, I can tell you that one of the most destructive fallacies of modern “school counseling” is the belief that bullies suffer from low self-esteem.

In fact, most are egotistical, narcissistic monsters who think they are entitled to beat the living Hell out of other children and take their money or etc.

Most of them come from families in which their parents were fawned over and indulged as children, and did the same to their children in turn.

Now look at post-modern progressives. They also tend to have spent their entire lives being told how “special” and “wonderful” they are.

And like schoolyard bullies, when they meet someone who does not acknowledge their “innate superiority”- they get very, very angry.

Also like the bullies, the old advice of “ignore them and they’ll go away” doesn’t work. They’ll just redouble their efforts to make you notice them- and obey them. Or Else.

There really is no cure for a bully. Or a progressive.

The most you can do is make sure that they never have power over you.

And post-modern “governance”, like school guidance counselors, is not much help in that department. Rather, it’s part of the problem.

You see it in prison too. They don’t suffer from ‘low esteem’, they have too MUCH esteem and think they can do whatever they want to if they perceive weakness.

eon, you have written before about the tragedy of your youth, and I have responded with empathy and alternative response.

What causes criminal behavior (and all school “bullies” are criminals in training) is irrelevant to the response to them.

Did their parents coddle them or ignore them? Did yours defend you or abuse you? Because both are required for a bully-victim relationship to work.

But again, notwithstanding the background cause, how bullies are dealt with is overwhelming force. It works, and I saw so much of it from behind my pawnshop counter that was across from the local high school. School’s out at 3 and they streamed across the road to the c-store adjacent to my shop and hang out on the front walk, some innocently and some to carry out their little power/drama struggles. Until I started standing out there, never touching a little criminal but advising the victim to respond in kind when mistreated and to talk to their parents and if that fails talk to me and I will help, at least in that small snippet of time and interaction.

The biggest factor in parental involvement, but by high school it might be too late as they have shown lack of support or worse, actively victim-blaming. But whether or not there is help, the response is, has to be, the same.

Violence does, and should, beget violence. It’s the only way to solve a bullying problem for the individual victim, and also for the so-called bully. And in the macro, it’s the only way we will ever stop progressives aka socialists, from destroying us and stealing all our shit. There is no alternative.

Having been a builder, I do not see the capacity in thinking or skill to build anything in these non-builders. I had planning for the plant production out to a minimum of a year with some items even beyond two including stock supplies and All the other considerations.

My girlfriend was admitted to the US as a refugee from a martial law communist Poland, so I think one can assume she knows something about living in a socialist state. She once told me that the “defining characteristic of socialism is corruption”.

What I find interesting is she does not blame the Polish government for declaring martial law. Apparently, the Russians were massing at the border and martial law was declared to stave off an attack by the Russians. Martial law saved Poland a replay of 1956 Hungary or 1968 Czechoslovakia.

I was living in the UK at the time, and I do not remember one way or the other if the Russians massing on the border was reported or not. Since I was in the US Navy while stationed in the UK, I find it very interesting at her view of the Russian forces that were already in Poland and how it contrasts with the attitude of the Scots towards us Yank sailors. While we were largely integrated into the community and only the most far left Brit would say we were “occupiers”, though I don’t think they really believed that. My GF had a Russian army regiment stationed 3 km from her home in Warsaw. The Russians were largely confined to their base and were looked at as occupiers. The Poles would have nothing to do with the Russians. On the other hand, a very significant percentage of US servicemen married into Scottish families (including me, but that is because I had poor judgment).
