Chris, I am so sorry I can’t help out this year. I barely held on to my job, my son lost his and has moved back home so I can’t even scrounge up loose change from the couch. Needless to say 2014 really sucked….some days your cartoon was the only thing that made me smile…a little.
Good luck in the next year…you do have some awesome readers that are pushing that bar to the right…wish I could be one of them…but I will keep reading…and smiling…and wishing I could go to the DD Ranch and tip a glass.
Anybody want to help me chip in for a Sam/Zed level for Grunt?
No idea when and where he served, but think of it as a thank you, and I’m thinking he deserves that Gadsden/Sam medal…
I’ll match what anyone kicks in for him until we get him to $50.

I’ll kick in $25, but how do we do this. I use paypal.

I’ll do $25 for Grunt, and hopefully another bit for myself, someone figure out the logistics.
Chris, If we just donate thru paypal, can you credit it to Grunt?
BTW, Grunt, this is not charity, it appreciation.

I’ll do $25 as well. Chris can do the bookkeeping. It’s his job, after all. 😉

Y’all are too kind…Please don’t worry about getting me a level…it’s great that so many folks are willing to chip in and keep this going…just keep the $$ rolling along to keep DBD alive another year!
After all, the DD Ranch swimming hole is kind of it’s own reward, ya know?
🙂
On a lighter note, hard to believe it’s going to be 25 years for Desert Shield/Desert Storm this year…my how time flies.
$25 for Grunt going in by Paypal right now…thanks to the others chipping in and if it gets him to a higher level, awesome!
Grunt, DS was right about the time I was starting my second pawn/gun store; a wholesaler sold me a stack of t-shirts supporting that splendid little war and I sold them out in two days…quite a difference then and now both in how it was done and in how it was received…thanks again for your service.
You guys truly overwhelm me…I have sent an email to Chris…told him to keep the goods and use the $$..doesn’t seem right to get stuff when you guys are doing the heavy lifting.
I did, however, say I would welcome the wonderful, beautiful downloads…I am grateful, not stupid.
🙂
Thanks very much to everyone. Looking forward to another great year of snark, wit, wisdom..and, of course, boobehs.

I have to research and shake loose that other 50 from PigPen (PayPal).
Otherwise I’ll have to wait until the end of the month, a paycheck, pay bills, and see what’s extra.
I’m dancing thru the minefield as fast as I can.

Looks as if the download got hijacked. No great matter, count it all as profit for you. If I can, I will shake loose another $25 for Grunt this Friday.
This is the first year I given anything, and that was just a token. I can probably swing a little more this friday when I get paid. But, how about some nice pin-ups for rewards? Nothing offered really appeals to me. Anything lying around in your art files that you could toss up? Doesn’t have to be new, just some sexy stuff?

Define “sexy”. Chris has posted lots of stuff online, varying from fully clothed to frontal nude. So, pick yer poison.

Chris,
We figured out how to do it, so we’ll be sending a check the first. We’ll put in a bot (not much) extra you can credit to someone that needs it. Keep up the good things you do. Your ability to work across the spectrum of those enjoying your material is commendable. You speak primarily to the core issues, not allowing picayune nonsense to detract from the message. Thanks. Thanks for the nekkid truth, among other nekkid things. As a friend used to say, “Don’t sweat the petty things, and don’t pet the sweaty things.”

Good advice, however could be some sweaty things on Sam I wouldn’t mind petting!

Chris:
Sent another $25.00 for Grunt GI. Thank the lower cost of living here in SC.
Grunt, if you are looking for work, and can travel, jobs are plentiful here. Boeing is expanding and Volvo will be building an assembly plant in Summerville next year. And as you can see, Charleston is a civilized place that can deal with adversity without going up in flames. Maybe that’s why it’s called “The Holy City.”
Hey Master Diver,
Secret confession…I’m really an old Navy guy myself….USNA ’87..former P-3 NFO.
🙂 –insert Army Navy joke here
But since the name Old NFO was already taken by another reader, I decided to go with Grunt GI because, well, I like reading military history…and I even teach a little history to homeschoolers…trying to prepare them for the progressive infestation that is the modern American education collective.
Anyway, things are looking up a little…I managed to keep my job…I’m only 5 years away from qualifying for a pension…yes, I actually have one of those…maybe…and my son is looking for work, but damn, Obummercare really screwed up the job market…he can only get part time work if at all..and then he has to work 2 jobs…which is good for him (Mike Rowe would agree I’m sure), but a pain in the ass.
I would love to move South, but the wife will never hear of it…too much heat and humidity…although I do know Charleston is very nice…love the old homes and Southern hospitality. Unfortunately I live here in the Virginia suburbs of DC and the damn Commies are moving here out of Maryland and DC and bringing their socialism with them.
So, thanks again for all the contributions….for Chris, not for me….
Hopefully by this time next year, Lord willing and the creek don’t rise, my finances will be on a better footing…not a Don Portago footing, but maybe a Naomi footing!
Cheers

Hey Grunt.
Interesting mix. I was Active Duty in both Air Force (74-86) and Army (2004-2012), but have a penchant for Naval History. Studied under Prof Gordon Prange at U of MD. He wrote several excellent books on the Pacific War (You may have heard of a little volume called TORA-TORA-TORA).

Gordon Prange, huh? Miracle at Midway is an awesome book. That must have been an amazing opportunity.
My mentor at Canoe U was Prof Craig Symonds a really outstanding naval historian. Yea, these days if I have my daily DBD snark and boobehs, a cold beer and a good book to enjoy, it’s a damn good day.

“P-3 NFO”? TACCO—as in “Tube Rat”? Wuz a 3rd Crewman in RA-3Bs during ‘Nam, but was a radio operator/ECM/Madman in Neptunes before that (in the reserves). Wuz in P-3B (Mod)s later on, but only flew on a “sometime” status. I wuz the squadron’s (VP-90) safety weenie (JOCS Egbert and I go way back). Didn’t write novels, but authored a little P-3 safety-indoctrination booklet called “Sher’f Safety Sez” which got dispersed throughout the Orion community. Speaking of John, I’m hoping to see him and his lady in Louisville next week!

Funny, I didn’t hit “post.”
Anyway. Hope your situation improves. Keep SC in mind for when you retire. The climate isn’t that much different from the DC suburbs, and the political climate is MUCH better.

Matching JTC with another $25 for Grunt.
Ya’ll be cool.

Another $25 in Grunt’s honor. I had to spend a year with the Grunts in the Sandbox, so they need all the help they can get.
God bless you, Grunt GI. I’m not doing much better, but we must do what we’re able. DBD is a highlight in my life!
