Powerful closer right there, Samantha Owens.

Socialism as an STD works on so many levels.

The “gift that keeps on giving,” ravaging and destroying lives, long after any initial pleasure is forgotten.

Like STDs, socialism crossed over and became embedded in humanity through a series of incredibly vile and repugnant acts few can comprehend, and even fewer would have participated in or condoned.

Finally, the truly and irredeemably evil walk among us celebrating and extolling the “positivity” of each.

Not to speak of being highly contagious.
The principles of socialism are so much simpler and more efficient, and are lots more logical and reasonable, and therefore easier to debate, than the principles of capitalism.

In fact, the only real problem with socialism is that it just never works.

        Contrarian View

We have to go deeper than merely recognizing the symptom. Socialism “never works” is the observable result. But why does it never work?

Because socialism is evil. It violates the most fundamental human rights and makes slaves of all who fall into its trap. The post-Marx proponents of socialism are all would-be tyrants who want to exploit and rule other men. (I must make an exception for the original Pilgrims in Massachusetts, who tried socialism voluntarily but learned their lesson quickly.) The stated principles and goals of socialism, as describe in the tyrants’ propaganda, are not its real principles and goals. It is all a fabric of lies. When you say it “doesn’t work” you are accepting the premise of that lie.

At too great length, Ayn Rand was 100% correct about socialism and its proponents. Fundamentally, it violates the human right that a man owns himself, and can not be owned by another. Socialists want to own other men. That is evil.

@larryarnold The “reason” socialism never works is that it is an inexorable path to communism, for which your other givens of logic and reason do not exist within its parameters, only greed and self interest. Like every other fatal flaw of man, it is explained by following the money and power; as simple in its evil and at its heart as that, always follow the money and power.

No one who truly values an individual and their rights, most importantly others, can become a socialist.

If Skye Owens properly understood her own worth, AND, the worth of others, she would not be alone, and her children would not be fatherless.

Time was, a father had three or four children. Today far too many children have three or four “fathers,” with the government perceived as the most dependable. Just one of the many “fruits” of socialism.

To Too Tall, Laryarnold, and Contrarian View — truly insightful thoughts. If I might add, I’ve seen socialism leave behind a ruined shell of a person completely devoid of reason and logic. Any contrarian views are immediately met with hate, anger and in some cases violence. Sad.

Socialism, Communism, and Fascism are just different aspects of the same thing: The desire, by their proponents, to appoint themselves as Feudal Lords and *rule* over a demesne of compliant, disposable Serfs who can be compelled to serve and obey their Lords’ every whim on pain of imprisonment or death if they dare to question their Lords.

The only *real* difference between the -isms is to what extent the Lords may allow their Serfs to *pretend* that private enterprise, a market economy, and Constitutional rights still exist while the Lords manipulate and control things behind the scenes, vs. simply dispensing with the fiction and openly declaring that the Lords now own and control everything, including you.

But, in no “-ism” are the needs or desires of the Serfs of any interest to the Lords, and the Serfs’ opinions are neither wanted nor welcome. You *will* shut up and obey your new Lords, or else.

The Lady Margaret Thatcher said it most succinctly:

“The problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other people’s money.”

And THAT is socialism/wealth “redistribution” in a nutshell!!!

“Political tags — such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth — are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire. The former are idealists acting from highest motives for the greatest good of the greatest number. The latter are surly curmudgeons, suspicious and lacking in altruism. But they are more comfortable neighbors than the other sort.”

I recognized this within the first two sentences as a Robert A. Heinlein pearl of wisdom (The Notebooks of Lazarus Long), and heartily concur with your choice of quote. Socialism, Communism, et. al. are the deceptive songs that have plagued humanity from time immemorial, and they always result in disaster.

They ony read the sections that benefited them to make sure they were included because that’s all they’re interested in, the ‘greater good’ is a meaningless concept to them.

There should be a law that all Bills can be no longer than six pages and nothing not directly pertaining to the subject being legislated can be included. if you want a raise or a canoe museum in your riding, put it in it’s own Bill so the people can see. it used to be that way up here but lately it’s starting to go the way of theearmark and inclusion with bloated ‘omnibus Bills’ adding in hundreds of things that are completely irrelevant to the subject.

I downloaded the CR bill and did a word search for “quash”. This came up on page 239.
      “(d) MOTIONS TO QUASH OR MODIFY.—Upon a

8 motion made promptly by a House office or provider for a

9 House office, a court of competent jurisdiction shall quash

10 or modify any legal process directed to the provider for

11 a House office if compliance with the legal process would

12 require the disclosure of House data of the House office.”

This would, effectively, prevent any investigation into the J6 committee from obtaining documents proving it was an attempt to frame Trump and company.

More insidiously, it would effectively shut down any attempt to investigate Congress or any of its members for *anything* — and that section would even have tried to make it *retroactive*, so that even investigations into things which happened before the bill was passed could be quashed after the fact.

Make it a requirement that all bills must be read out in their entirety in one sitting (every 4 hours a 15 minute recess may be allowed), and that in order to be able to vote on said bill you must have been physically present, awake, and focused on what is being read out. No proxies. No Mobile phones, reading material, or bathroom breaks. All the coffee, tea, and water they desire however.
Should result in the bills being much shorter.

I’d make one slight change: to vote _for_ the bill, you must have sat through the entire reading while appearing to pay attention. But this is not required to vote against it. There’s no reason to make those who know parts of it are crap to listen to all of it.

In the words of Jerry Jeff, “Up against the the wall you red (neck mothers).” That’s a form of accountability. Public shaming works, too. The base motive behind all those imposing/participating in administering Socialism, Marxism or Communism is the same as it is for any level of Fascism…POWER. They hide behind claims of being benevolent, but they are motivated by the desire to have and EXERCISE power. Ultimately, the only difference between a dictator and a petty bureaucrat in a small-town city government tax office is the LEVEL of power they can exercise and the number of people they can exercise that power upon.
