The story I read about Full Metal Jacket was that R Lee Ermey was a consultant for the boot camp portion. When he asked to play the DI, they said he was too nice for the role (despite having been a DI). So he recruited some solders and put on an hours-long demo tape for the producers, never re-using the same line twice. Then he was brought in to play Gunnery Sargent Hartman.
The most audacious and arrogant call is for disarming us and ending our right to protect ourselves from them, the government. That should serve as a clarion call to remove every freaking one of them.
That is specifically provided for in the Declaration, as to “throwing off”…
“But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security”
That long train came roaring through before, and we were unsuccessful in throwing it off, and look where we are now.
