Talent, even supernatural talent, can take you but so far. But if Samuel ever wants to have a chance against Zed, he is going to have to master a discipline of self bordering on OCD.
As he was losing to Zed, did Samuel realize his dad’s pulse was under 50, his respiration rate was under 10, his natural point of aim was consistently on target, and that he was shooting between his heartbeats?
Now, in the raw natural talent division, we still need to see Samuel vs. Mia. If for no other reason than the trash talking between their spotters, Zed and Naomi would be epic.
Shooting is a martial art, just like kenjutsu, or even more like kyūdō.
Natural talent only takes you so far, but without that innate talent practice won’t help all that much.
Talk about training and drill all you please, but the U.S. Army had to learn that only one out of a thousand run through Basic had the makings of a sniper. In MP training and the Jedi Project, they learned that there were even fewer who could become true masters of the .45 M1911A1.
The same holds true in civilian training. There have been many members in good standing of the IPSC, IDPA, and etc. over the decades, but there is and was ever only one each of Jerry Usher, Rob Leatham, Jack Weaver, and Jeff Cooper.
Samuel seems to have that “knack”, inherited from both his parents. Now the master can begin training him to become a master in his own right.
Samuel may be a “supernatural” shot with targets. But Zed has shot where his or a comrade’s life hung in the balance. That brings a whole ‘nother level of focus.

Naomi is the Israeli Sniper, Mia is the daughter of Naomi and Zed. IIRC…

Seems Dad also is a master instructor at Sportsmanship. The kid is going to be a solid citizen.
