The Coast Guard and Army Corps of Engineers have done marvelous work in their process of clearing Puerto Rico’s ports. I have some knowledge of ports. No doubt the USCG is not being accurately reported in the bought media.
    https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2017/09/26/outstanding-work-by-u-s-coast-guard-on-port-recovery-in-puerto-rico/-

I have never knelt to any man.

A man named Bill commented there. I agree.
There is only one time I take a knee and that is when I need to have a serious heart to heart with the Almighty. These NFL guys missed an excellent chance to be real human beings.

The absolutely fabulous Super Bowl Party that myself and several friends put on for over 10 years with around 175 of our close friends gathered at someone’s home and pool area will never return from its several year hiatus. It had gotten too big for it’s britches. Like the NFL. We did have some of the greatest people and the best women to be found around Miami at our friendly gathering. No comeback will happen now.
Compared to reality, these overpaid athlete actors are playing less than a child’s game. They have become a distraction from what is important to all of us.
I like what all here have posted on these matters.

    Sam is prescient.
That is what 2018 will bring.

I stopped watching last year when this crap started. Even skipped the superbowl. I’m done with the NFL, haven’t watched a game in almost a year.
I have no desire to see a bunch of anti-american millionaires cry about problems that don’t exist.

    • September 27, 2017 at 6:36 am
      GWB

Well, the problems exist. They just aren’t systemic or widespread or all-about-them. There is police abuse, and there is racism, and citizens’ rights do get violated. But “the police” aren’t racist, nor are “the police” the reason for criminal statistical disparity, nor is racism usually the reason for abusing our rights.

So, they’re all protesting based on a horrible misunderstanding of the problem, which isn’t what they think it is, nor as big, and they’re not doing anything real about it anyway.

      *smdh*

        GruntGI

And the ironic thing is that most of those cities where “police brutality” is the most widely protested are run by (gasp) DEMOCRATS and often BLACK DEMOCRATS and have been for DECADES.

Baltimore is the best example. They had riots over some cops supposedly taking a shake and bake van ride with some black suspects. The smarmy black, female, Democrat state prosecutor couldn’t make the case, but she sure as hell got her TV face time to prepare her mayoral run against the other black, female Democrat.

It is all kabuki theater for Democratic party machines in the big cities to cover up their failures:

It’s not the crime, it’s the cops!
It’s not the crappy schools run by corrupt teachers unions, it’s the cops!
It’s not the breakdown of families and churches via the welfare state, it’s the cops!
It’s not the corruption, crime and taxes that drives businesses away, it’s the cops!
It’s not your own personal responsibility to be come a gang banger and be dead at 16, it’s the cops!

Police brutality is keeping the poor oppressed down. Never mind the cops work for Rahm Emanuel, Bill Di Blaiso are two of the most progressive cop-hating mayors the DEMOCRATIC party has ever produced.

I personally am not only fed up with the NFL’s pampered millionaires, I am really getting tired of being lectured about my white male privilege.

SIGH, so so sad. I am kinda relieved my dad passed away last year, he would have been so depressed to see what this country is becoming.

Taking a knee in this situation is symbolic BS. What have these overpaid entertainers done of substance? Have they tutored kids in school? Did they helped community members make something for the good of all?

They offer nothing but disrespect to those that pay for their narcissism.

Well there is a bit of good that may come of this sorry situation yet. The fans paying for this may just stop supporting pro sports as it is today. They will stop vegging out in front of the TV. Evidence of concussions in football players continues to amass, and the movement to stop the game because of that is growing. Especially for youngsters. These fools are sharpening the knives of the people who want to cut their (financial) throats.

I was co-habitating with the future pretty spouse in Valley Ranch (Cowboys practice facility was down the road) when Jerky Jones let Landry go. It seems Coach Landry had gotten himself a case of the football stupids and needed to be disposed. The irony is the door to Landry’s office in Valley Ranch was given to him for Coaching the first Cowboy Stuper Bowl win. His assistants took down the door and like a warrior on his shield carried it three to a side (the Door was 8 feet tall) out of the Cowboys facility. This ceremony was covered by the big three Dallas TV stations. That is the moment when “sports had class” died.

By far Chris’s best toon on this topic.

The narcissism of these “entertainers” who are really the epitome of special snowflakes who have been told they are special because they can run and catch a ball is sadly just like those Hollyweirdos who think they are somehow politically gifted because they are paid to play dress up.

None of them have actually produced useful goods or services, unless you count their “performances”, yet somehow us ignorant deplorables are supposed to follow their educated, enlightened guidance.

I doubt any of the NFL morons have any idea who Sam Adams is, but they are sooooo for social justice.

Well. Let them sink into the mire of their own poltroonery. They will shortly discover, just like Hollyweird, that they need us more than we need them.

Excellent take on this weekend’s idiocy, Chris. I haven’t really followed Pro ball since the AFL died, and the overpaid, pampered infants they call players have NO appreciation of what they have, or who is actually providing the seven-figure salaries and billion-dollar stadia. Personally, I hope their chains hang heavy around their necks, and they die broken and impoverished. This one went on my FB page, and should be on the front page of every conservative news site.

What I posted on my FB this morning, along with today’s DBD cartoon.:

For all those in the NFL; enjoy your decline – right alongside the MSM/LSM presstitutes and the “entertainment” (TV and movies) industries (yeah, I’m looking at you, ESPN). When I watch sports, TV or movies, I want to be entertained, not lectured, not preached at, not scolded – especially over imaginary protests.

One of my work and life mentors, Art Ewing, and I were discussing the “decline” way back in the 90’s. As to the cause, he offered this: “Some time in the mid-60’s, someone decided that all input was equal.” I think he was right. That was the start to PC America, where we force ourselves to debate known truths just so we can say that all opinions were considered, no matter how absurd.

These comments are are “on point”; I would like to add another big part of the problem: The media. If the broadcast companies didn’t show the opening ceremonies, if the “sports” broadcasters didn’t continually bring up the politics of the relative few players, and if the news media didn’t ensure the story was their “lead” this story would fade away into the sunset. The anti-Trump politics have taken over, the days of honest journalism are, sadly, behind us.

      http://nypost.com/2017/09/26/all-that-kneeling-ignores-the-real-cause-of-soaring-black-homicides/

… Who is killing these black victims? Not whites, and not the police, but other blacks.

In 2016, the police fatally shot 233 blacks, the vast majority armed and dangerous, according to the Washington Post. The paper categorized only 16 black male victims of police shootings as “unarmed.” That classification masks assaults against officers and violent resistance to arrest.

Contrary to the Black Lives Matter narrative, the police have much more to fear from black males than black males have to fear from the police. In 2015, a police officer was 18.5 times more likely to be killed by a black male than an unarmed black male was to be killed by a police officer.

Black males have made up 42 percent of all cop-killers over the last decade, though they are only 6 percent of the population. That 18.5 ratio undoubtedly worsened in 2016, in light of the 53 percent increase in gun murders of officers — committed vastly and disproportionately by black males.

Among all homicide suspects whose race was known, white killers of blacks numbered only 243.

Violent crime has now risen by a significant amount for two consecutive years. The total number of violent crimes rose 4.1 percent in 2016, and estimated homicides rose 8.6 percent. …

As a final thought, I haven’t watched a professional sports game for so long I can’t remember. I don’t do professional sports. For those of you who do, find another way to spend your time. Go hiking. Find some intermediate or advanced single track and go mountain biking for the workout of your life. Go to a park and read to your children or grandchildren. Enjoy the shooting sports. But if you sit on a couch all Sunday and watch someone else play games, you’re the same as a crack addict who devotes his life to something that pays no return.

I see many comments about NOT being sports fans or at least NFL fans. Please indulge the opposing perspective for a tic. I’ve been a lifelong KC Chiefs fan since watching my first game in 1970. It happened to be the Super Bowl the Chiefs won, and it was played on my birthday (I was 6 at the time).

I don’t watch much TV. I rarely watch the news. I find it too aggravating as they expound on topics where I hold the exact opposite opinions more often than not. I DO watch sports, and movies (usually on DVD), as AN ESCAPE. I want to turn my mind off, get away from stress (work, usually) and politics for a few hours. As this is my approach, I aggressively go for the mute during ANY interview, as most are insipid, and many are idiotic. EVEN when they’re talking about their game play!

When they make it about politics, especially when it’s obvious they’re being used by agitators of the progressive bent, I’m done. My TV will not be on this Sunday – at all. Sponsors have been contacted. The Chiefs front office has been contacted. No money, no time, until they clean up their act.

My message boils down to: When you inject politics into a non-political activity, you are GUARANTEED to piss off at least half of your audience. And you just did exactly that.

I guess I have to mention this. I was at a dinner party with people I had no idea who they were. It was hosted by a real estate company and I suppose we were invited since the ex and I had bought a house. Businessman type comes up to me and asks if I like sports and I replied I shot numerous firearms disciplines such as high power rifle, small bore rifle and defensive handgun. The guy looked at me and said, ” I guess you don’t like sports then” and walked away. To him, he liked sports since he sat in front of a big screen tv and I didn’t like sports since I was a competitor in the rain, cold, snow and the heat. So if anyone is looking for a sport, check out NRA high power rifle, IDPA or USPSA. It’s a sport you can enjoy all the way to your old age.
