Yep. Pistol braces. Bump stocks was a couple of years ago.
5th Circuit has declared the bump stock ban unconstitutional, and various judges have issued limited stays on the pistol brace thing.
Also, anybody with a “bad” pistol braced weapon became a felon on January 31st. that bit that ended May 31st was the grace period, during which the dungeon keepers would magnanimously look the other way.
Weird that Trump was in full compliance with bump stocks too.
Personally, I think they’re a waste, but no reason others shouldn’t be able to have one. Hell, ammo gets cheap enough again, I might try one. Just no range around me would allow it and I don’t have many friends in low places.

Trump’s bump stock position came directly from Wayne LaPierre’s NRA. Trump assumed what the majority of the nation’s normies did, that the NRA was still the legit advocacy group it was when LaPierre first assumed his position.
Many of us in the community have been warning of the fall and rampant corruption of the NRA for over a decade. Don’t give them another nickel. Join Firearms Policy Coalition or Gun Owners of America. Those guys are doing work.

About the same odds as dying from the ChiCoof. Coincidence? I think not.
I think the compliance is less than that. I have 2 pistol braces I bought as “airsoft parts” that I doubt are even included in the overall total of braces manufactured.
If the total number of braces actually in circulation is close to the 40,000,000 postulated, the number of them registered is more like 0.0065%
That being said, I personally know a couple of guys who brought their pistols into compliance in various ways. Remember, ATM, all it takes is removing the brace and having a friend or family member who doesn’t have anything short barreled it’ll fit on hang onto it until the whole mess shakes out. Just for instance.
I’m guessing, based on conversations I’ve had in the 2A community, that vastly more people chose the compliance path than chose to register.
There are also those of us who joined FPC and/or GOA before the end of May, and who are covered by the injunctions.
If I were to pull a number out of my ass, I’d say that overall compliance, be it NFA registration, removing and destroying/moving the brace, or putting a 16″ or longer barrel onto the receiver to convert the weapon to a rifle, is going to hover around the 20-25% mark that, historically, these circuses net.
I don’t actually own any AR pistols, so the braces I bought aren’t illegal. I can put them on a rifle all day. but I think they’re counting the braces as if ALL of them were attached to pistols the moment they were bought. likely the ATF is too. I expect to get a visit at some point, just like the people with the FRT’s have been getting.

But not you will notice, the NRA. What a stunning reminder of their fall into ineptitude and irrelevance. And justly so.

That’s kind of like all the suppressors being marketed as “fuel filters”. Where there’s a will…
Someone up here was charged for possessing a ‘fuel filter’, even if it hadn’t been fitted to any firearm and none of his were threaded for one. He was also charged with several hundred counts of ‘unsafe storage’ because the lock on a box wasn’t fully engaged, a charge for each cartridge in it just to make it look bad for the media. Luckily the judge saw through it but his employer fired him over it and a court had to force them to reinstate after a few harsh words for the managers in question.
In sockboy’s socialist country this guy got very, very lucky, he could have ended up doing many years in prison and that judge is probably being ‘encouraged’ to retire. Sometimes I wish we had the US style legal system where there’s at least some vetting of the judiciary. Up here the PM personally appoints a lot of judges, particularly Supreme Court Justices and there’s no way to prevent his choice from sitting and doing what they’re told.

Like a lawnmower muffler isn’t hard to find 😉
They also make a little gadget to adapt oil filters, I’d call it a piece of personal protective equipment for prevention of hearing loss, except sockboy would sieze on that as another reason to ban everything ‘for your own safety and to prevent unnecessary drains on health resources’. Guaranteed everyone who looked it up on youtube is on a CSIS list somewhere and they’ll be implementing the new internet control Bill to punish us all somehow…oh, well.
I learned that about fifty years ago, will they be doing memory checks next ?

Rossi makes a lever action rifle, r92, that can be chambered in .38Special/.357Magnum, .44Magnum, .45Colt, 454 Caskull.
It sports 3 barrel lengths of 20, 16 or 12 inches. The 12 inch barrel, Mare’s Leg, has the same action parts as the other two. A replacement stock for the 20” model will fit the 12” model.
Thus is the state of administrative law. It is also how nations die as such laws get to the point where everything is illegal because some bureaucrat thinks “There oughta be a law…” and then crafts new regulations, even of there is no legal basis to create such regulations, even those that are blatantly unconstitutional.

“A bureaucratic ruling is NOT a law.”
And therein lies the cause of our Progressive Monster State, courtesy of FDR, Woodrow Wilson, and the like.
We have three branches of government for a reason, and both the Legislature and the Supreme Court have not been holding up their end of the bargain.
I’m afraid it simply because these idiots have no fear that the monster will turn on them and theirs. They’ve been lulled into a false sense of security by Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s promise of a man-made heaven-on-earth via the socialism scam and his Tabula rasa lie that makes it plausible.
Socialists of any stripe quite literally worship Government and will do anything to advance its cause.
Thank your lazy legislators, who refuse to do the hard work, and write actual law vague enough that it is left up to an unelected bureaucrat to “interpret” what complies and what does not. And if that bureaucrat happens to “change his mind” on a given day, who’s to say who is right?
These floaters are killing me! As much time as those pups spend free ranging, you wouldn’t guess they’d be so creamy white. Excuse me for minute, will ya?

Yeah, I was amused at how familiar that number sounded.

The replacement stock is not a brace.
put a rifle stock on a Mares Leg pistol and you have an SBR rife. Better hope you’ve got the permit already.
I’m confused (HI, CONFUSED!).
How can one be considered a felon if one did not break a law?
