I’m not irregular. I’m bilateral. My left aide mirrors my right aide. See?

Actually your two sides don’t mirror each other.

Sorry to quibble, I just wrote a story about an AI passing as human, and her mistake was a perfectly symmetrical face. Human faces aren’t, quite. If you photoshop the two sides of your face, whether you mirror the right or left side it’s – unsettling.

      I bet Chris agrees.

        Howard Rheingold agrees.

A perfectly symmetrical face is what those creating “sexbots” strive for, not realizing that that drops the bot straight into the Uncanny Valley.

Also, the reason people often think they look odd in their photos is because they’re used to how they see themselves in mirrors. If you flip a photo of yourself along the vertical axis you’ll look like you’re used to seeing yourself, with your asymmetries on the “correct” sides.

In the 50’s SF movie “War of the Satellites”, an alien doppelganger is unmasked by his symmetrical features.

Each and every Patron is in the characters here; I merely direct them. DBD is a sounding board, a, if I may say, a unique town square of my fellow Americans.

It is perhaps the worst time ever for America economically, politically, socially,
spiritually. Every American is marshaling his resources for what’s to come for themselves and their families, to rebuild our Republic and free it of a parasite class that has dogged us for 125 years.

Therefore, what all of you give me is more than money; it is trust, especially this penultimate year where either the USA wins the day, or a Marxist USSA beast arises.

I gotta say, I think Marxism, like Biden, is finally seen by all as dead meat walking. And I can’t wait, with your support, to cover it all this year.

      Trust me on this.

      Chris 🙂

Excellent composition Chris, you get to
        the meaning of situations.

The one we want for Pres. did not know
much about Govt. 8 years ago; now he
does and everyone he considered for
Vice, and other well qualified people
        will be in his cabinet.

He will kick out all the Vile heads
of Depts. and as many Govt. bureaucrats
        as can be unearthed.

Thanks for all you do and a few more $
        will be coming your way.

        So this really isn’t “OT.”
Things are not going smoothly in Harris County. The “parasites” still out of power from Hurricain Beryl are threatening the linemen restoring their electricity. Many of those workers are volunteers, leaving families behind and coming in from other cities to help out.
My first thought was, “Not in Texas!” Then I remembered, it’s *Progressive* Houston.

Marxism isn’t the problem so much as keynesism is, liebral govt’s kneel at his altar and don’t see any problem since they’re wasting your money, not theirs.

“…the last thing that anybody should want is individuals disposing of their own wealth as they see fit. That would leave too much to ‘chance’. Much better for intermediary bodies – in effect, quangos – to decide how much wealth people should be allowed to accumulate and where it should be invested (even to the extent of deciding how much of it should be invested abroad)…”
–john maynard keynes in ‘The End of Laissez-Faire’ -1926.

There was one good thing about Marx: he was not a Keynesian.

Agreed with Oldarmourer. John Maynard Keynes has at least as much influence on current politics as Marx and probably more. And the view of Keynes was nihilism incarnate as per his famous quote “In the long run, we are all dead.”

        More likely ‘dead meat cooling’.
bye-then hasn’t been seen in a week, he resigned via letter, not even on presidential letterhead, and now they’re saying he doesn’t have any public appearances scheduled for this week…
he was supposed to hold on a few more months so they could push the ‘election’ off for a State funeral, but he even buggered that up.

Still, even amidst the destruction, there are so many small silver linings.
For example, the TTE (time to exposure) of government lies has been dropping steadily from indefinite (1963) to nearly zero this week.

Happened upon this by one of DBD`s most esteemed contributors.

Being a Ham, and considering that the ‘Cackler’ just could pull
it off because of when 51% of the population is feeding off the
Govt. trough (dont think it`s quite there yet) they will want to
continue their parasitic lifestyle, and como between resistant
    forces will be paramount.

Mostly, California’s state government is determined to eliminate all communications that they do not control- or which is not controlled by “friendly agents” such as Microsoft, Google, or some cellphone company.

Just wait till Extra or Advanced hams go to hand-crank or bicycle generators and portable CW/SSB transceivers, plus 80b isotron antennaes. The State will have to hunt them down like the Nazis did Resistance operators in France, with “radiogoniomtery” RDF units and teams of “regulators” with automatic weapons.

Mind you, the State in California no doubt has employees who could do it and would get off on it. Think, the kind who got sent home about the second week of Basic because of their “When do I get to kill somebody?” thing.

CB’s will become illegal once people figure out they can use better codes than “10-4 good buddy” and communicate without the gov’t knowing what they’re saying…

“The elderberries are still green” could mean virtually anything and even change depending on what day of the week it is, and no computer can tell you what an elderberry is without the code.

A good code, unlike a cipher, is virtually unbreakable without the codebook, although everyone has their price and a liebral gov’t is very good at finding out what yours is…then renegging on the payment.

Expect to see a flotilla of RDF aircraft searching for ‘unauthorized transmissions’ caliming they interfere with commercial bands and scramble your internet…

Trust is paramount to any successful partnership. It seems as if DBD has created a unique community of shared values, which leads to civic trust, which makes the existence of all better, well, at least some of us. The lunatic fringe is beyond help, so in the coming years, we either ignore them when they lose power, or institutionalize them if they try this stuff again.

I wish I could take credit for the “lot of new names” that signed up because I’d posted the Sunday comic on my FB page but… none of my “deplorable” friends, a number of who are involved in politics, even saw it.

I like to think I’m ‘ghosted’ due to my content and the numerous times I’ve been sentenced to FB jail, so they see me as a threat. Several ‘2 or 3 day’ or ‘week-long’ bans, and even three ’30-day sentences’ in the last four years.

But, alas… Twas not to be
